This Singer just sold for $1.8m (plus fees) on BaT.

Another beauty. As I understand it from comments I've read, the attention to detail and the quality of these cars is unsurpassed. They reside in the land of automotive pinnacles.

Yikes. That's real money! I did an article on a Singer-like 911 once -- bespoke from the tires up by a semi-local shop known for over-the-top customs. The owner joked that everyone wants a classic car until they actually own and drive them, then suddenly remember what cars were really like all those decades ago. His job, he said, was to make classic dream cars live up to the dream. Singer seems to do exactly that...

They are great cars and I have seen a few of them up close, but for that kind of money its getting close to a Carrera GT, the best car I have ever driven, or a lightweight 964RS, 904 and so on. I full recognize that the Singer has modern performance but I personally would prefer a modern car for that role. Obviously I am in a minority given the prices commanded in the market.

Your take is fine! I just like to drool a bit, including over the ones you mentioned in your post.

But yes, the Singers are awesome. The photos in the listing are staggeringly gorgeous. I chose the dash/gauge photo for my post because it's an unbelievably pristine looking and nearly perfect dash. I could probably sit in the car staring at it for several hours!

I think that's a good question... Jumping past the concept of spending $1.8 million on a car, is a Singer the best $1.8 million car? Certainly not based on spec sheets, but I'm guessing Singer buyers aren't thinking that way -- lots of intangibles driving that price....
