Did Swepco reduce gear noise for you? I'm leaning toward Swepco 202 for that reason. With the rear seat delete, anything that reduces gear noise is a big plus for me. In the past, I did try Royal Purple and Amsoil because they were said to reduce noise, but neither seemed to help.

How funny (or creepy) is this. Before ordering Swepco 202, I wanted to make sure it had LSD additives. I googled it and was comforted that the google AI answer said yes. Then I noticed it's source (this thread) and had to laugh...

Tom, I don't know for sure if it was swepco, it was what came in Gretchen when I bought her. It was thick, stinky, and probably 20 years old or more.
I flushed it out with mt90 then re-filled it again with mt90 after a few hundred miles. I noticed the whine from my excessive ring/pinion backlash immediately (about 6-7 mm at the cv axle flanges). It was silent with the old stuff. I ran two years, then changed it (mt90 again) and had a used oil analysis done, with excellent results, wear metals in the mt90 sample were low and within normal, expected limits. There was 12,000 miles on it.

I went with Swepco 202 and was able to drive it today. The difference is noticeable -- quieter than before and a noticeably smoother shift into first and second. Worth the extra cost in my book, especially if you have notchy/stiff shifts. Thanks for the heads-up!!

Better protection at every temperature and the R&P will always prefer a thicker oil. No difference in shifting when cold, in my experience.
