I ordered my 2008 911 4S with a custom color - Baltic Blue. The Rennbow site found only one 911 with this color, but it looks quite different than mine.

Among the many beautiful BLUES that Porsche has offered, here is CLUB BLAU, an extremely rare shade created for the special edition PCA 60th ANNIVERSARY GTS CLUB COUPE in 2015. Sixty cars were built and offered via lottery to PCA members. The color was an instant hit and PCNA received several requests for the new color to become available as PTS. After a few years of exclusivity to the CC, CLUB BLAU was approved for PTS, but not for all Porsche models.
I was lucky enough to be among the original 60 CLUB COUPE owners. These pics show a few of the many interesting places I drove my Club Coupe in the nearly seven years I owned it…Death Valley, Monument Valley, Crater Lake and all over the West. The car now resides in Omaha, Nebraska with its second owner.
CLUB BLAU is a beautiful non-metallic shade of blue that looks perfect on the 911.

When you’re doing a respray, there are almost no limits (since the topic wasn’t “original color!)
Azzuro thetys metallic pts was borrowed from the lambo pallette for a couple of years recently but appears nla. Rennbow seems to show more resprays like mine in that color than originals.

The Rennbow site relies on PCA members (and others?) for the photos used. There is a process to submit same and PCA will then screen the submissions, making the final decision on what and what not to include.
Regarding variances in how the colors look on the Rennbow photos, they are indeed all over the map. Most is likely due to the varying capture characteristics of whatever camera was used and of course, hugely varying light conditions. I also suspect some shots may be of cars that are not painted in the true factory shades. Beyond that, Porsche itself states that colors may not always be identical across models and time. Different materials being painted can also change the appearance of any paint.

There was a Rare Shades event in downtown Los Angeles in 2019. Quite a gathering of seldom-seen colors.

It took a while choosing the color I wanted, but I picked Lava Orange and I still feel it was the best choice.
