Both of your two's MB SLs look fine! Clean lines and sophisticated design. Agree w/Tom's comment on that gen.

The 928 GTS in the pictures belongs to longtime enthusiast owner and friend Rich Andrade. That may be his red S4 behind it. IIRC there are four 928's in his stable, plus a few other Porsche's to round things out. The blue one was a feature/cover car in Panorama a few years ago. All are very well kept.

Always great to stumble on to a gathering like that. It's not just the cars...

My feeble memory is that it's Amazon Green. I'm sure there's some "prime" under the color coat... ;)

I concur. Rich was my driving instructor at my first track day with PCA three weeks after I purchased my Cayman. He is great!

Hmmm... I can see that now. I thought it was a blue, but probably like my old Rx7 in Montego Blue Mica -- which looked like a blue car in some light and a green one in another. I guess I'm drawn to it... Here are two Montego blue cars in different lighting...

Rich e-mailed about the "Carefree Car Show" event, and he shared an event report description and more pics. He sent them as PDF, and I'll need to get his permission to use them, and extract/convert them to .jpg to display on the page. The summary is that the local region gathers every March for a street show in Carefree, Az., a bit north and east of Phoenix. Generally March is a safe time to be outside there, but it was close to 100ºF that day. They have the city's permission to take over the downtown streets until noon on their Saturday.

His comment about the gatecrashing 300SL in his picture album: "The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL was produced from 1954 to 1957 as a gull-winged coupé. With a value of $1.5 million to $6 million, I guess crashing a Porsche display didn't get it towed away."

On the Amazon Green: "Sunrise and Sunset are the magic times for my 1993 928 GTS, the Amazon Green color shows many different tints based on sun angle."

Dr. Bob invited me to join this discussion.

Bob and I go back to the grand days of Sharktoberfest, the SoCal meeting of Porsche 928 enthusiasts. Those were the days.

I purchased my 1993 928 GTS new. Every time I drive it I just say wow, this is what driving should be. My GTS was featured on the cover of the July 2011 Hemmings Sports & Exotic Car magazine and in the well written article about the Porsche 928.

My long distance miles get put on my 1987 928 S4, it has over 196,000 miles on it of which I've driven over 130,000 miles myself since purchasing it from a good friend. I'll discuss in the future about my current project to make one nice road car out of two 1979 928s that previously served me well over the past decades with distinct functions.

The Carefree Car Show is one of our top Arizona Region PCA shows.
