Great post!.

I got my hands on a 991.1 for a week in 2012, ( pics below), and had the opportunity to compared it with my 997s. I will not got into the many positive differences, but the two items I was not too happy with were the electric steering and the PDK. The latter was more of an issue with familiarity I imagine, but the steering lacked feedback compared to the hydraulic steering in my 997s. Obviously it was a much more comfortable car.

What is interesting is that they seemed to have done a lot of work to improve the steering feel and by the time I got my 991.1RS it was pretty much as sharp as the 997s

While the 991.2 was technically superior ( including the RS) I did not think I would see the benefit unless I was going to go to racing school, and so hung onto it. I have it still.

Great post! One thing. I think you are perhaps operating with incorrect information on the weight - I thought the 991.1 S was the lighter of the 2 cars, and generally speaking the 991.2 S is about 100 lb heavier similarly optioned.

991.1 - 2013 Carrera S curb weight = 3,075 to 3,230 lbs
991.2 - 2017 Carrera S curb weight - 3,175 to 3,329 lbs

(all from google so who knows if accurate)
It is comical how people like to pull their suspenders out to feel good about their purchase.

I was reading of a forum how 992 (or maybe 991.2) 911 T owners were bragging about how light their cars were. Excuse me, anything over 2200 pounds is heavy LOL, but we all want our luxury creature comforts.

Looking up base (no options) models, hell my 4 WD 991.1 Carrera 4 GTS was lighter than a new 2WD 911 T. Source: Porsche specifications.

But who cares, I don't.
