In the old days, 'paint correction' was generally just part of polishing, but with all the new tools and equipment, it's become an art of it's own. These days, people take brand new cars in for 'paint correction' which in that case means polishing off any orange peel to make the finish as flat (and glossy) as possible. That's how they get those super deep black show paints for example -- they just remove any/all surface variations and get a porcelain-like finish. Guards red takes to it also -- I had my GR 951 done one and it literally looked better than new (much like Stacey's pictures). Unfortunately, that was 10 years ago and my paint is too thin for another go at it. At some point, new paint will be in my future.

Yeah and with the modern coatings (ceramic for example) you want the paint as perfect as possible before applying.
It's amazing what they can do. I agree, it's an art.

In Los Angeles, the total price would be at least twice as expensive. Your car looks great. Do you have any interior photos?

That looks really good! I’ve never done ceramic coatings on a non-clear coat car.. depending on how gritty you have to get, it can be a little dicey.. but if you gauge the paint you can better inform yourself of what’s going on. If you ceramic coat you have to buff it all out.. me personally I’ve tried it and I’m a buff/wax guy.. 3M finess/foam pad and Ardex Florida shine wax… perfect combo!

This car does make me happy. Its the car that really made me fall in love with Porsche and the 911.

Red over black 3.2 Carrera G-body coupe -- they really just don't get any more iconic than that. Simply gorgeous, and makes me miss my Prussian Blue '85 coupe (a lot!).

How is that interior so intact? My 75K mi Carrera int doesn't look so good. Pics to follow tomorrow for advice.

The car was cared for mostly prior to my purchase of it in 2019, but I have since taken just about every single piece apart to clean and make look better. Lots of new replacement parts, liquid plastic restorer, black paint, interior detailing products, etc. Everything in the car pretty much functions as it should.

For now I like the Rennline aluminum door handles, door lock knobs, and door lock pins but those can got back to stock fairly easy at any time.

I'm now realizing in these photos that i'm in need of a vacuum. Likely time for some newer floor mats too. I'm thinking cocomats.
