992 Exhaust mod
Hey Dave, if you do be sure to report back. I think my buddy has the SOUL sports cat. If you go with a different brand I would be curious to here your thoughts.Davesnums wrote: Sun Jul 10, 2022 2:15 pm My decision would be to leave as is with the stock exhaust and PSE or the sports cats. I may still do it - just on the fence.

My vote is for Soul Cats… they are mid priced and great quality. When I sold my 991.2, I was able to resell the Souls pretty easily.

It's very interesting that everyone here is on team "sport cats" regarding exhaust mods for this car.
I didn't want to deal with the increased likelihood of CELs and fumes that are often associated with high flow CATs, so I went with a cat-back ("slip-on") Akrapovic exhaust for my 992 C4S. I've had it on for a month and so far I'm pleased with it.
The cold-start sound is MUCH louder than stock for the first minute or so. Maybe too loud to be honest. Then it settles down and is just the right amount louder than the stock PSE exhaust. I get to hear a lot more turbo noise at lower RPMs with a deeper growl (especially now that the new exhaust has been on for a while). At higher RPMS (say above 4500rpm) it isn't significantly louder than PSE, but it is definitely noticeable. There is absolutely no drone on the highway with this system.
I had an AWE Switchpath exhaust on my 991.1 for many years and it sounded great, but was very very loud with the valves open. I have to imagine my neighbors hated it, lol.

Indeed, the OEM sound from the with PSE is almost like the sound of a Clio, Porsche dealer ripped it out and installed the Tubi exhaust, sounds a lot better, did try to video it but it did not work out…..
