In the meantime, I'm happy to send you one with this paint. Pm me with your address. It looks great and I'm guessing it will last plenty long enough while I hunt for different paint. I tired putting a matte clear over it but the paints weren't compatible and it all crinkled up. The paint shop has a compatible clear, for more $$, but I'd way rather find a good single stage top coat.... It's a quest at this point.JimB wrote: Wed Dec 22, 2021 8:20 amThat's unfortunate news about the necessity of a top coat. I'll definitely hang in there, all the while admiring your persistence...Tom wrote: Tue Dec 21, 2021 2:38 pm ust confirmed that Bordeaux is not a top coat and won't last long at all without a clear. I have two add'l options to try, so hang in there...

Mamba green? Taycan? Can you post a picture? I should know if these fit the Taycan fairly soon. If not, I'll take you up on the offer to help R&D one to fit.amelen wrote: Wed Dec 22, 2021 6:30 pm I'll take one in Mamba green if possible. Can also help with R&D or help promote it for you once you make them.
Don't have a picture off hand, but have these two videos I took for folks in the other forum if you can see it from the videos.Tom wrote: Wed Dec 22, 2021 6:33 pmMamba green? Taycan? I have the gold inlays (which is what I was showing in the 2nd video) so not sure if it's a standard size but I can take some measurements for you later.

Wow, now that's a color. I'm on the hunt for that Neodyme gold too if that's of interest. I suspect I'll need to have the green code matched by a paint shop. Seems pretty unlikely I'll find something close enough off the shelf, even for a bezel.... (but if you know of anything, do let me know). I find it amusing that Porsche uses the term turbo on an electric car, but I'm sure it's an absolute beast on launch control. Videos of that would earn you bezel bonus points.

Neodyme gold might work too. Where are you getting the colors?
Yeah, Taycan Turbo/S are super fast, especially 30-50 & 50-70 (both around 1s). I do miss the sound and gear shifting though.
I think 0-60 with LC is right around 3.0s. I haven't tested that yet though

Just depends on the color. For many of the 992 colors, there is an off-the-shelf spray can that's close enough. For the fancy Porsche colors with a code, I have a local paint shop that mixes colors into a spray can. In this video, I painted one of my license plate mounts with an off-the-shelf Rustoleum, and it was exactly the same as the Guards Red on my 944...amelen wrote: Wed Dec 22, 2021 7:16 pmTom wrote: Wed Dec 22, 2021 7:11 pm Wow, now that's a color. I can do one in Bordaeux for you. However..... it'll take a week or so, and the paint is technically not a top coat so I'm not sure how long it will last. That color (and a few others) I had mixed at a paint shop that -- for reasons that confound me -- gave me the base coat of a base/clear system, yet all efforts to put a clear on it have been little disasters.
Edit: I'll do a little batch in the Bordeaux since I know others have been waiting for it too. If/when I get that color in a top coat, I'll report back here.
