Been a Porsche guy since 1970.

First Porsche was a '60 Cabrio, next was '59 Convertible D, Then a "65 911, then a '72 911 Targa, then several G models and then 930 Turbos and 2 Ruf modified 930 Turbos. Currently a 993. Always appreciated the quality of Porsches! Also own and fly helicopters (they're air-cooled too).

Chris here in Kensington, NH. If you're ever in Southern NH connect with me (RotorRider@comcast.net) we can try out some air-cooled cruising...
That's quite the history of Porsche ownership - very cool! The helicopter angle is fascinating too.

Welcome to Carpokes - we're glad that you're here!

I'm a younger porsche fan who is looking into purchasing a 928/944 in the near future. I have some rare vintage Porsche memorabilia that id love to sell, and would love to get some advice with that and purchasing a 944/928. I am an avid lover of the g series 911, and would love to learn more about this and other air cooled porsches.
I second Larry's welcome!

Here's the link to the new Memorabilia thread he mentined (and started!):

That's quite a Porsche resume! You have a knack for picking cars that skyrocket in price! Welcome aboard!

Old member, but don't remember Checking-in.
North West GA; bought my first and only - Iris Blue metallic 911 Porsche 3.2 Targa new, from Jim Ellis when they were on Coolidge Road just south of LaVista.
Thanks to Hans Metzger !!!
Serviced in Smyrna by Reggie Cumming up until his tragic death.
197,602 miles! Ferry said he built them to be driven! I have fulfilled his wish.
I have taken GREAT care of this car inside and out - truly looks show room quality after 38 yrs. and almost 200,000 miles!
The legendray Bruce Anderson testified to the statement that this Metzger engine would travel 400,000 miles before a rebuild; with proper maintenance; so I'm 76 and just halfway there!
It was recently entered in an open class car show at Savoy in Cartersville, GA. For those who were interested I answered specific questions and then noted to them that the car had 197,000 + miles on original paint.
Humorusly/ironically I saw pairs of gentelmen visitors walking away sharing with each other that they had just spoken to one of the bigest liars of the show === NO WAY this car could have this age and milage given it's condition inside and out. OK - but the TRUTH sits in my garage.

Wonderful story and quite the history with one car! Regarding the car show comments, too bad there are those out there blind to possibilities.
