Hello!
Growing up my dad had a 944, so I have fond memories growing up and driving around in it as a kid. I recently purchased my own 1987 944 S. I've been enjoying learning more about the car and getting into working on it myself. I'm grateful for the big community that's made it so easy and cool to learn. I hope to eventually share my stories and experiences as I try to figure out new skills when it comes to cars in general.
Thank you.

That's awesome, welcome aboard. Cool cars make a lifelong impression as a kid. My dad got a Volvo P1800 when I was a kid, and to this day I still think it looks like a mini (and affordable) Maserati! Good luck with your 944S -- lots of good resources and experience here on Carpokes -- welcome to the fold!!!Burg wrote: Wed Oct 25, 2023 7:27 pm Hello!

Hey everyone! New to the world of Porsches, as I've recently purchased my first one - a 1988 944s (16v) with 114k miles on it, here in Westchester, NY.

She's in great shape, but as with any 35 year old car needs some love.

Name: Paolo, 27.
Location: Austin, TX
Current fun cars: '21 718 Spyder 6spd, '16 BMW S1000R (not a car, but still super fun lol)
Occupation: Remote Field Service Tech for Manufacturing Packaging Equipment
First Porsche: 2018 Macan GTS. sapphire blue fully loaded spec. traded for '21 Spyder because i wanted something sportier when I'm home once a month from travel. I almost cried leaving without her.
Was hooked on Porsche's when: My mom's '16 cayenne diesel. I love the brand and the people in it. dealers are dealers, except they aren't dealers. In all my travels, being young and even while owning a Porsche, I've been escorted out of almost all brands except Porsche. I've never once been profiled in a Porsche dealer. Dealerships are like a second home to me. every job I go on, I look for the nearest Porsche dealership, meet as many people as I can and just admire the cars. My corporate travel agency books my hotels near them specifically too lol.
About me: I sim race a lot. ACC, AMS2 on pc or Gran Turismo 3/4 my PS2 (yes with period correct wheel and pedals). i work a lot and I'm never home but when i am, my time is spent trying new hobbies. autocross once in a while or going to the dealer for a coffee. i have a few Porsche friends over the years, but no one has the same schedule as me so communication is usually a text once in a while. lol
below is a pic from last year. i took my dad to an autocross event in the spyder. he likes Porsche too but isn't crazy about trying new things. so, this was actually neat to get him out there with me. yes, it's a cat face on the hood lmao. and yes cats are the best. and yes i am allergic to them.
if you're ever near austin, tx, maybe we can go for a drive or chill at the dealer
(assuming our schedules meet

Do you ever just stand in the garage and stare at your car?

Fun car 2001 Boxster S. This car is an absolute blast to drive. Joined PCA and have enjoyed their tours. The back roads in Marin and Sonoma counties are really a lot of fun. Especially driving a Porsche.
