Name - Jason Newton

Location- Syracuse, NY.

Occupation- Geologist and Drone pilot.

My last fun car was a 2020 Golf R.

I’m here because I’ve been dreaming of a 911 for quite a few years and I’m planning to pull the trigger this spring on a 991.2 GTS, if I can find the right one.

Cheers!

I saw an ad for this forum in Pano. It looks interesting. Reminds me of the "No Snob 944" page on FB. Just Porsche talk without pretense or excessive pride.
I've wanted a Porsche since 3rd grade and got one just four years out of college. Still have it 40+ years later. It's a family member. Being a mechanical engineer helps with understanding them. We're all just custodians of these great cars. Maybe that's why 70% of them are still on the road.

Wow, what a great story and 40 years with your Porsche means you have had a blessed marriage of man and machine!

I'll second WillyDaP's "great story" comment.

Glad you found the site and hope you enjoy it as much as we do. By the way, gorgeous 911 - you've obviously been a great custodian of the car!

And yes, welcome to Carpokes!

What a great looking original 911. Welcome aboard! We're all about civility and quality Porsche content here. :)

There's an old car joke that goes something like: "70% of all the Fiats ever made are still on the road today. The rest of them made it home without breaking down."

Hi Jason,
Welcome to Carpokes. I had a 2016 Golf R - great car! My neighbor has a 991.2 GTS and loves the car. Can’t wait to see photos.
Best
Larry

Thanks for your kind words. I also speak wassermotor. The early '85 now resides with my son. My preference though is for an air cooled engine behind the rear axle.

Photo is of the '87 engine we rebuilt and swapped in the '85 after spinning #2 rod bearing at an autocross.
