Are these stock the OEM pagids like GT4/Spyder? How many miles and track days?

It's about time for me to change pads so I'm doing a bit of research.
Stock pagids on our Spyder worked very well on 4 track days, 2 AX, and canyon/street (they're seemingly 4 years old), so leaning towards replacing with same rather than more aggressive DS1.11 and better. Changing the pads seem like a PITA to me, unless I upgrade to caliper/line studs

These are aftermarket pads, Ferodo 3.12 that i tried to get the last bit out of and took it too far. I am not sure how many track days, some times I do 4 days a month.

The pads are a cinch to change. I personally think the talk about needing studs to be over-hyped. If you are not using an impact to bolt the calipers on you are fine.

Yesterday had the paint protection film replaced in the areas around the rear wheels which is where it gets roughed up on the track. They also did a quick buff and freshen the ceramic coating.

Did you use the 3.12 for dual duty (street + track)?
I really should just unlazy myself and swap in for the 4-6 track days a year

I too need to replace some PPF (full front and rockers) after track days. Dreading it a little bit since the front was done by previous owner and I saw some paint chips that's underneath the PPF; last thing I want to deal with is paint ripping along with PPF

I did the same regarding PPF 2-years ago - it was time.

Recent work on the GT4 at PoN, including twice annual brake fluid flush/bleed (still using Motul RBF 660), full PDK/diff service - all fluid replaced again (I've done this twice since new), replaced all 8 rear axle boot clamps including new seals, hardware and the like, installed Motorsports strut reinforcement plates, new Schroth 6-pt harness sets (current had expired and PCA is now checking), new starter and more.

The car has also been detailed - finally. (It sat track-dirty all winter.)

Yep, I put on the 3.12s and never looked back. They are really good on the street, great cold bite actually.

On previous cars I have ran track pads that are terrible on the street, no bite when cold, super dusty and incredibly noisy. These are not like that at all.

All excellent, except the starter. I did not expect that. Have you been having starter issues leading up to this?

No issues whatsoever. Zilch. Starter was perfect as far as I knew. (Had been on track a day or so prior and all was well there too.)

As it turned out, the GT4 was sitting in the service lane last November after I drove it in for its annual. When the porter went to move it - nada. Wouldn't even come out of Park, so it couldn't even be rolled.

Starter failure is not necessarily a common affliction for 718s but it has happened to others, so it was not unfamiliar to the techs. I'm glad it happened at the dealership and not elsewhere. I was lucky. Without a pair of dollies it would have had to have been dragged on and back off a rollback otherwise. That's a bit nightmarish.

Just finished up one month road trip in 2024 Cayman S - West Coast to Yorktown, Va and back - destinations inspired by watching Ken Burns' documentary "American Revolution". And by signing up for two, back-to-back, two-day driving courses at Barber Motorsports in Birmingham. Variable weather with 91 degrees and snow, both within 18 hours in Charlottesville! The Cayman is a wonderful road companion!
