Looks like a great site, embarking on my first engine rebuild. Have a 1980 and 2014 and previously owned a cayman and 914. Love all things porsche. Looking forward to picking some knowledge from you all..

Welcome to Carpokes. Your white car is spec'd very much like mine Looking forward to seeing progress on that engine. Trust you have the Bruce Anderson and Wayne Dempsey books? They go into incredible detail on every little step in the process. I actually used those books to build my 944 engine, since so many of the concepts carried over (and since there are no similar books on the 944 motor...).

First post on carpokes.
Hello everyone. I feel I’m in a support group at a first meeting. Hahah, I guess we are all Porsche owners, some who have figured them out and some who need help figuring them out.
I guess it is all the same.
First off…
My runner:
75’ 914 2.056 build viper green (repaint)
My project:
71’ 914-6 GT Tribute 2.2 Ecam signal orange w/ black trim
Sold & Parts cars:
69’ 911T (parts for 6’r)
80’ 924 Turbo (sold)
2- 73’ 914 2.0 (parts cars)

Remembering back as a kid in the early 80’s seeing 914’s and targa 911s in the side yard or “behind the barn” has always stuck with me. I always kept my eyes peeled for what out there. I love restoration of anything. I’m a master carpenter by trade. Getting into it and getting dirty. From houses, antique tractors to Land Rovers and old power wagons I’ve had my hands dirty. My Uncle pushed me to Porsche. He has always had many Pcars and still runs them today. My favorites are the early air cooled. I want to restore them all. I’m always looking for my next project, hopefully a 912 or my dream 70-80s 911.
Can’t wait to start looking around.

Name: Cat Spurgeon

Location: Micanopy, FL

Current cars: 1985 (early) Porsche 944 NA, 1951 Chevrolet C3100, random C4 donor car. My lead sled, C3100, will receive a 951 transplant (yes, there is space and perfect length for the transaxle and torque tube, the weight distribution will not be 49/51 because, well, lead, hahah ). I decided to do this transplant as a slight rebuff to those who swap LT and LS into their 944s.

Occupation: mostly retired Clinical Psychologist, retired Veteran, I now sit on Boards for things that seem important, and they are, but all I want to do is work on my truck and plant camellias. Full time 944 enthusiast. Honored to assist my better half with being custodians for 944Fest and 944Camp.

Short story: When I was 15.5, I found a beautiful green car with pop-ups for sale. I told my dad I wanted to test drive it. It was an early 90s 240SX 5 spd. He told me "it's too much power, you wouldn't know what to do with it." Since then, my car history of 30 years indicates a tendency for modification and power plant reverberations that makes heads turn. Sometimes, wince in horror.

I profoundly enjoy the history of our cars, but even more--the people who enjoy them. Capturing their stories is what turns my wheels.

Epic intro Cat!! Welcome to Carpokes. I've long mulled putting a fully built 951 motor into a pre-1975 (no CA smog) car, but nothing from the era seemed right. Never thought of putting it in a big old American car... I like it!
