Browsing carpokes and came across this thread. Wow, another fantastic project. Tom, you’re next level.

Very cool modding here. Subtle changes and seems like Tom is making some cool stuff. In for some beta testing! (Car arrives in 2 weeks 🤪)

Hi All, to really make this happen, what I need is a spare sports chrono gauge and surrounding dash plastic from a dismantled car. Short of having this car in my garage, having the factory part to model against is the only way to get it down realistically. In fact, having the part on my desk actually is better than on a car in the garage. So, what say you Carpokes nation -- who can find me these spare parts? I'll pay for them, I've just been unable to find them. There is a Chinese clone of these parts, but I worry they are not dimensionally identical to the factory gauge, such that I'd end up making a part that doesn't actually fit. And I haven't actually had the nerve to ask what a dealer would charge for the parts new.... (but that would be good info if anyone found out....).

Tom, just a thought but if you explained the project, inc mode dial covers, any chance your dealer would do a sale/return or loan to check dimensions?

I'll be printing this first-try model tonight and go from there. This bezel is more of a challenge than the 992/taycan version because it is partially covered by the trim on the top side. That makes it hard to get a new bezel to hold on, and means the cover needs to hug the contour on the side where the bezel transitions from the top, partially covered portion, to the open part on the bottom... I'm sure this will be the first of many tries, but I'll get there eventually with any luck....

Ok, I'm about 99% there with the 718 Sports Chrono Bezel. Still making tiny little tweaks, but in the range that no one will notice but me. :) Still mulling how/when/where to offer these -- probably not free given the time and cost it's taken me to get here, but active members will have priority and pay less no doubt....
