@Cat944

By the way, pictures are most appreciated at Carpokes, including those of the '51 Chevy or any other cars/trucks/etc.

In case it's needed, here is Tom's friendly (and easy) picture posting how-to:

New member checking in here and always looking for like-minded motorheads! As a way of introduction here goes:

I guess the automobile has always been a close part of my family beginning with my great grandparents:

Now on to my first car. 72 beetle which my dad and I restored

Next found a 944 that had been in an accident. Poorly repainted rear quarter panel but boy was it a joy!

Had to sell that to pay for college. After college I bought the Mazda Protege (first auto) to be my “reliable transportation”. The auto died in it and i was missing rowing my own gears.

Sorry for the long thread..

Moved yet again and found myself on the beach. Needed a convertible. Wanted to itch the V8 bug. Spent way too much of my limited income on trying to get it to “feel” better. Top down was fun; sound was great. 98 Mustang 4.6

Moved yet again (DC) and according to my better half we needed a “more practical car that i can drive in the city and take more than one person”. I’ve always lusted after the E36 M3 and they made a sedan. Found an auto. Took to home to my parents and swapped out for a drive with my dads Cobra replica.

Took the M3 to the track and fell in love but loathed the slush box. Time to find another one in manual.

Loved that E36 and wish I kept it. But i had to try the E46 and tracked it. Fell in love again. Added custom BBK and started down the path of rebuilding calipers. Also met a good friend who could alter the DME. Full on addiction now.

Always lusted after the Porsche 911. I needed to scratch that itch. Wanted to know for myself why peopled loved them so much. Found a poorly written advertisement with incorrect information according to the VIN. Called-bought it that night. Sorry honey, I’ll sell the E46…. And that bring me up to date. Lots of stories between the cars. Thats for another time.

Nice meeting you all!

Hello to everyone!
I have been a proud Porsche owner, (1989 911 Cabriolet), for 15 years. I do all of my own maintenance, and all repairs that can be accomplished without raising the car on a rack. Although I did replace the clutch some years ago by placing the car on jack stands and dropping the engine on my garage floor!
I am looking forward to learning and sharing on this forum.
