I don't have a Porsche yet, but I'm going to be doing paperwork for a 718 S next week. Excited to join the club!

Hi, Karoserist, and good to have you join the merry crew. Old Porsches are like 'old dogs' (very GOOD boys) and IMHO are some of the best of the P-car products. Although I find myself lusting after the dazzling new Cayman, I am a die-hard 914 recidivist, through and through! A car isn't well-broken in until it's a half-century old...Karoserist wrote: Fri Nov 08, 2024 8:22 pm Hi, to all members. I'm new here on this forum but not new to P cars. Looking forward to leearn new car hacks from all of you.
I have a few old porsches which need some love so I'm sure here I will get all the help I need![]()

Current fun cars: none, saw a 944 with an electric conversion, and it peaked my Porsche interest again, I worked at an eruo import shop as a teen and worked on many Porsches among other brands.
Occupation: disabled, so basically retired
First Porsche: 1990? 928 S4 for about a week, was doing a speed run and the timing belt warning light came on and about 5 seconds later I bent every valve on the car. All 32, and even working at the shop it was $40+ for each valve, plus all the machine work needed. So after it was fixed, car was sold, still miss it.
Was hooked on Porsche's when: I was born. I am German, and my mother raced cars (mostly BMWs) so German cars and racing are in my blood.

G'day Erik and good to have you join us. Timing belt separation on a 928 at full steam?! As the cartoon character "Bill the Cat" famously put it..."ACKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!" I feel your pain (retroactively) in that incident! That must have been traumatic, to say the least. As for Porsches in general, I usually echo actor Kurt Jurgens' memorable comment (as a U-boat skipper in the war movie, "The Enemy below") to his First Watch Offizier when the boat was under ferocious depth charge attack near crush depth: "They make 'em good in Germany, Ja Heinie?"Cobolic wrote: Tue Nov 12, 2024 8:16 pm Name: Erik Rummler

Welcome, Arthur. Engineers are always good to have as members, given the analytical keenness that accompanies the profession, but beyond all that, it's a great little forum with a wide range of convivial Porsche adherents. Armenian culture is fascinating. I have several friends who hail from Armenia...all excellent people from a nation that in past has suffered tremendously from the cruel depredations of 'neighbors' (without going into political nuances, here, of course). 944s are great machines, as the 'older, bigger brother' of the nifty 924 concept!
