Initial body color test. @Tom, this was with a HF HVLP gun regulated down to 10 PSI. Single stage paint with hardener.

Sorry for the 20-questions, but can I ask what paint you are using? I got a quart of PPG and hardener, maybe a year ago, and was just floored by the price. It was over $400 if memory serves, over 5 times the price of the only full-body respray I've ever commissioned ($79 at Miracle Auto in High School in the late 70's.... ).

@Tom, I'm using Limco on the Bronco, a lower cost paint line. Limco is part of the BASF corporate family. I'm using "Supreme Plus" single stage acrylic. I got one quart of paint, a quart of reducer and 8 oz. hardener for $130 (no sales tax in OR).

It's worth noting that I've been told that the color mix can have a big effect on the price. Apparently red pigments are the worst. And when I had the '72 911T repainted in 2020, a gallon of Sikkens silver metallic base coat was close $1000!

@arne Cool thread! I currently have a '68 Mustang with a straight 6, and a few years back tooled around in a '68 F250 in a great factory "Utility Yellow".

I had a '68 firebird in high school with a straight-6. It was Pontiac's rare overhead cam engine, similar to the 944 really. And, I had it painted in nearly the same yellow as that truck, curtesy of a $79 Miracle Auto Painting respray. I literally dropped it off before school and picked it up before dinner the same night. It was less miraculous than the commercials claimed.
