Thank you Tom for the fine work! I am a better mechanic than photographer.

For sure. I'm sure I could track it down, but can you confirm what color you want, and that you are asking for a 718 Drive Mode Knob cover?

Re Toms opener β€œ I'm hoping these covers become something of a badge of honor for those who share the growing esprit de corps here on Carpokes!”

Thoroughly agree, it wasn’t this topic that brought me to Carpokes but I can see the uniqueness of this project and I share in Toms vision πŸ‘

On that note πŸ˜‡ can I be added, please, to the growing list for a Carpokes 718 cover in racing yellow?

β€”β€”-++β€”β€”β€”β€”

In addition and as a little project of my own, when I first read about these covers and that an STL file was available for download I asked a pal who has a filament 3D printer if he fancied having a go, of course he did 😜

I’ve no idea at all about 3D printing so filament/50 micron/resin etc meant nothing to me but my pal advised on the difficulty in getting ultra detail in non resin printing, anyway, he had a go and the pics show what he achieved and even painted it yellow for effect after printing in red.

I believe he modified something to get the top ridge smoother but when you see the pics the difference in β€˜quality’ between what he managed and what Toms pics show is remarkable - so the Genuine Carpokes Dial Cover should become a collector's item πŸ˜‰

I'll just put you on the list grasmere. PM your shipping address when you get a minute. That's actually a great result for a regular FDM (filament melting/squirting) printer, but hopefully when you get mine you'll really be able to see the difference. :) Also, not sure what filament he used, but if that is PLA, be careful leaving it in a hot car. PLA will start to defrom in a hot car, and can literally melt inside a really hot car.

Many thanks Tom for sending both orange and red! Here's a pic of both over my lava orange car; the orange is slightly more towards yellow (in this light a hue of 3-5 for the dial, vs. 0-2 for the car) but it looks great & happy to have the red for the new car in December :) Feels great to touch too

Glad you got it. I must admit, I didn't make any effort to match lava (I could for the cost of a $35 can of paint), but I remembered painting part of any old night stand orange a while back so dug out that can just in case it "worked" for you. :)

Edit: great close-up by the way. Close-ups like that make me feel good about all the time I took getting the paint process just right. Some of my very early efforts were cringe-worthy by comparison, in hind sight.
