Tom, they look great.

Everyone who has a 718 or 991/992 (or whatever cars they fit) should use your mounts. They are phenomenal as I've said many times before.

Thank you!

Tom’s license plate mounts were my first mod. Before I even finished signing papers for my new Porsche, I was putting them on my car.

I just got these mounts installed on my new Golf R. It was a bit tricky getting the locations marked but, in the end, it turned out great and the threaded inserts lined up perfectly with the license plate holes.

Thanks for posting these pics! Word has gotten out on one of the VW forums, so I'e sold maybe half a dozen sets to Golf R owners. Would love to get a review here from a long-term Porsche guy (you :)) on the Golf R here on carpokes. I've been looking at it online and it does seem to have a lot of the spirit of prior generation Porsches. I keep looking at the MSRP though, and wonder how well it does against other cars in the that $50k range? I've heard quite a few people say it has that intangible fun-factor that is better than its (fairly impressive) specs...

@Tom My 2016 Golf R was my second favorite car that I ever owned. The R does everything so well! It’s the perfect DD with room for four passengers. It’s also a blast to drive. It’s fast and handles great. The fit and finish is impeccable. My friend and fellow Carpokean @Leader can chime in if he wants. He has a brand new R (and a 718 GTS 4.0).

Just scored a 20th Anniversary Edition Golf R in Lapiz Blue. It’s an MK8 (the eighth iteration of the Golf) but I previously owned an MK7 Golf R, which I sold four years ago and quickly regretted.
The Golf R has plenty of power. The AWD platform eliminates the torque steer all its competitors have. It also holds its value well, which takes some of the sting out of the initial entry fee.
I’m very happy with the new one. As an anniversary edition, it has just about everything from memory seats (heated AND ventilated!) to full digital dash and even HomeLink…things earlier models did not offer. It’s a practical, fun car which can be driven hard and FAST. Bonus? It isn’t all tarted up with huge spoilers, stripes or obnoxious exhaust. download/file.php?mode=view&id=9975

It’s not for everybody but a Stage 1 APR ECU tune, for $600, increases the HP to around 400 and the TQ to around 400 ft-lbs on pump gas. I had this tune on my 2016. The car was civil around town but a beast when you stepped on it.
