Nice to be in the Porsche family. Retired home builder/teacher. My first Porsche was a 928. Now in a Boxster. Heading to a 911 cabriolet one day. We enjoy the activities of our local Porsche club. The warm weather in Alabama is perfect for convertibles.

I'm just joining today from an ad in Panorama magazine. My name is Richard H., and I bought a new 2024 Macan base in Carmine Red (kind of unusual for my area) on Halloween, as Porsche was apparently offering an incentive through the end of October. I love the vehicle. I had a Mercedes GLE 450 before this, and it was a behemoth with problems that the dealer couldn't fix. The Porsche is so much more fun to drive and has a real quality feel to it. I appreciate the fact that it wasn't designed with a dashboard like a video game (BMW and Mercedes), so there aren't a lot of distractions. I live in Springfield, IL, which isn't great for twisty roads, but I hope to find some elsewhere to try. My only quibbles with the vehicle are the start/stop system, which shuts off the electric steering, and also sometimes allows me to roll backward slightly if I'm on an incline. Then the PDK engages kind of loudly. I hope this isn't damaging the transmission at all.

Welcome to Carpokes Richard! I love Carmine Red!
Not sure about the anomalies you mentioned regarding your new Macan but I'd recommend that you ask your dealer's service department about them along with any other concerns you might have. They should be able to make sure that all is as it should be and/or answer your questions.

Hello all.
Matt in Tallahassee Fl. I just saw the ad for this forum on Stuttgart market letter. What a great web place for a hopeful newbie Porshe owner like myself.
I’m not a Porsche owner yet but I’ve been obsessed with the 911 shape most of my waking and sleeping moments. Yes I do dream about the dang things. Any how,,,currently I’m saving $ to buy one but the many different choices are overwhelming to say the least.
Im happy to have feedback and info about the many questions I have about the different gens, motors, transmissions, paint to sample, backdating, magnesium case motors, light weight-insulated glass… You get the idea. I guess whichever spec or generation I finally decide on I will be happy with because it will be a lifetime achievement when it happens.
But that silhouette

wow.
So, happy to register here and merry Christmas and happy Hanukah to all the Porsche people.
