@Greg 914-6 GT - So what is the final weight of this excellent car? During our two-owner build, my 935 tribute received similar CF treatment, plus rear seat delete, fiberglass roof panel, lightweight BBS magnesium racing wheels and more. Got the weight down to a hair over 2,400 pounds. The Lola is reputedly between 1,900 and 2,000 lbs, though I haven't weighed it yet. And American 4C's are a nick over 2,400 lbs.

You raced your 914-6 in HSR, which is exactly what I have in mind for my T70 replica. However, you wrote that you stopped because you feared damage. I thought that HSR had many rules to protect participating cars, including advice to run at 80% while racing and a lengthy ban for two at-fault contact incidents. I've also heard that some guys set their eyes on regional or national HSR championships and run balls to the wall with 800 horsepower. I just figured I would let those guys by. The Lola's restoration is finally in the last stages, and I do not wish to damage her, either.

@Fasteddie99 - A beautiful and original Carrerra! The car that showed how sexy styling can grace a light-weight sports car. There is much satisfaction maintaining cars in stock condition, like the ability to enter concours. I've chosen to march to the beat of my own drummer, and modified cars to match my personality and desires, but I totally get where you're going with your collection. Extremely nice, and very satisfying rides, I bet!

The eternal problem with having a special car is that you very soon have to buy another one, more flawed, that you are willing to drive the wheels off of. In my case that has been a long line of older BMWs. My wife is the detail queen and she keeps a tight grip on P-car keys...

Great comment!

edit: The tight grip keeps the Porches pristine - usually not a bad thing!

These are gorgeous cars on this post, stunning, so I meant no disrespect to the commitment and pride the owners must have. Awesome.

@M5-Mike - I am one of those fortunate men who followed Ronald Reagan's dictum to "marry up", and my wife has been, and remains, the biggest factor in my personal success, and the ideal lady for me. Anything human is imperfect, however, and irrespective of how nice a car I buy her, she will keep it one way - unwashed and full of junk. The car's mechanical needs are always requited, but the cosmetics are down on the scale, somewhere between municipal garbage trucks and the bedrooms of bachelors between girls. So I would hang on to your "detail queen", especially since she enjoys working her magic on your Porsches.
