Wow...it seems they will say anything and do everything possible to keep Andretti out.

Outside of the US there is a fair bit of discontent about the glitz marketing overkill in Vegas and Miami which the owners seem to be turning into a Super Bowl special, endless "personalities" ( watch for the Taylor Swift next race! and Donald Trump also), and the move into a variety of unsavoury regimes around the world. Also the Netflix stuff where you can see the lifestyle stuff and glamor, the dramatization of background is not universally welcomed.
It is clear that to satisfy this thrust there is a great desire from Liberty to get some American drivers and teams in there and to maybe short circuit the F3/F3 route to get a super license. The other big players ( Ferrari, RB, Benz, Honda ,Audi etc) probably fear being edged out by a much more American grid.
I have been to a lot of F1 races and met many drivers and so on and it is a deadly serious business. Not unusual for the existing players to keep the walls high and not share the proceeds. My prediction is that this resistance will ultimately fail.
There is just too much money involved and the audience loves the manufactured drama and glamor. What for an F1 show with performers between quality and the race one of these days. I see Andretti by 2027.

Great comments that are certainly true. I know people here who have become diehard F1 fans - the media and hype has created that. It's been good in many ways but also quite different from the past which is somewhat saddening to me. One family I know has been to most (all?) of the ones in TX and was at last year's Miami GP and is there for this weekend's race too, so there are hardcore U.S. fans who have thirsted for F1.
The Vegas event seemed more spectacle than necessary but it's Vegas. As for the big names/personalities latching on, it seems that's the direction these kinds of things tend to go.

Williams have announced they have signed Alex Albon to a long term contract . I think that is a good move for both sides .
I read an article stating that F1 is open to the idea of returning to V8's as part of the 2030 rules regulations . That would be a step in the right direction in my opinion . Hopefully it's not just lip service .

Agreed re the V8s. One of the things I recall in the good ( or bad) old day was when I was watching the start of races with protective earphones on; the old Ferraris were unbelievably loud and when the race stared you got a blow to the chest from the noise... a physical sense of the power of the cars. Now long gone unfortunately. I do not have the access I once had ( no big deal..did it for years) but it is certainly less dramatic. At least bring back the V8s:);;;;;

I remember it very well.
I was watching the race live on TV and Murray Walker was commentating when Senna crashed. It just seemed like a fairly typical minor crash at the time and I saw very little to be concerned about. As the minutes dragged on and the grimness of the scene unfolded the realization came that it might be serious, then very serious, and then possibly fatal. I think there was just disbelief as the news broke. A very sad day and a very sad weekend.,
