I got my 1st Porsche in 1970, and currently have #35..but I am NOT a 'flipper', just a nut !!!! 33 have been air cooled,,,356 - 912 - 914 - 911. I just sold my 987, (#34) because my beloved found it to be too 'cramped' and wouldn't go on drives....SO...I bought the most open 'greenhouse' that Porsche has EVER built....the 993-996-997 TARGA... Mine is an '02 996.2 Targa in Carrera WHITE over Natural Brown. About 76K miles, 6 speed, etc. Very well kept/cared for... I am a long time PCA Member, and, fortunate to live close enough to the Monterey Car Week to attend every west coast Werks Reunion. I also have a Convertible D sitting next to the Targa....sort of a 'before and after' setup. LOVE them both (but I confess, the 356 is SO easy to work on, and the Targa is...well, sort of intimidating ) I'm in the Redwood Region of PCA, plus, 356 and 912 Registries.
Hey sounds like my same story only I am on the east coast specifically Sebring, I have attended every Rennsport Reunion starting with the Lime Rock number 1 have had a great time at all the Monterey ones. Maybe we could trade adventures I can host you if you ever get the urge to attend a Florida event, 12 hours, Werks or Amelia Island.

I envy where you live , as I ran at Sebring , twice , with Panoz Racing School, and I imagine you get in quite a few track days living there? Amelia Island Concours is on my " Bucket List " because I have been to Fernandina Beach 4 times but never could get there during the event because of work.
Post pics anytime your are running at your little " Home " track, ha!

Welcome aboard! We built Carpokes for exactly that reason -- to bring back the fun and friendliness of those older Porsche forums! I'm 90 minutes from Monterey and love car week. Mulling the idea of doing a Carpokes booth this year!

Now THAT....would be pretty cool. I will be at Werks, with PCA membership 'booth'. I would certainly come by and say 'howdy'. I was in Santa Cruz, now, the North Bay, but still planning to go to all Monterey Werks, and all Rennsports @ Laguna Seca. If you are in the South Bay, you remember Performance Products, Parts Heaven, EASY....all gone.
CT Automotive and Don Wise are still hanging in there....I think.

When I bought my '85 3.2 in the mid-90's, Automotion still had its flagship store in Sunnyvale, a couple miles from my house. I spend a LOT of time there. Back then, we had Porsche Heaven, later renamed Parts Heaven for obvious reasons. Spent a lot of time there too -- so much so that my mother-in-law in Denver came to know Al like an old friend over the phone, as she'd get me gift certificates there every Christmas and Birthday for years. (RIP, she was truly one in million.) Parts Heaven, Automotion and Carlsen all had epic swap meets every summer, before the internet took over and before the terms "cars and coffee" was even coined. Ah the good 'ol days... EASY was further away so was never my hang-out, but I did make it to one cars and coffee there before it shut down, where I immediately kicked myself for not discovering it sooner.

I have been told, but not verified, that folks still go to defunct EASY for a gathering on certain Sunday's ???? I too, miss Al and Spencer and Jeff....Now, I hear that LA Dismantlers is going out of business.....That just leaves the one up by Sacramento..as the only one in California. That's just nuts. I bet there are more P-cars in CA, then the rest of the USA, combined...( I totally admit, this may be a gross miscalculation, so apologies in advance)

I don't have any idea about total P-cars but could use PCA membership as a way to extrapolate a vague idea of numbers of vehicles.

There are 148 PCA Regions in 14 Zones in US and Canada. Total membership is estimated at 167,000 per Wiki. California has 10 Regions with 11,000 total members, leaving 156,000 members in the other 138 Regions, roughly 15 x the number of CA members. Our Musik-Stadt Region (one of 16 Regions in Zone 3) has over 1,100 members.

The unknown is how many Porsches are owned by non-PCA members. PCNA would likely have registration data by State but I have no idea how or if that data is shared.
