Looking forward to being able to compare notes on the GTS!!

@lukesward Got it! Are you guys planning on doing an M2 like road trip after you pick up the cars?
Boy, are we.... In general concept it will be very much like our M2 euro delivery trip - except amped up: better prepped, with some storyboarding in advance, with more available days (ie - a longer trip duration), and with a crew member so we can get shots and footage of both of us driving both cars at the same time.

I took an 8+ week road trip with my law school roommate after we took the bar and before our jobs started. Incredible trip -- covered 46 states and parts of Canada. Exact opposite of yours though. We did it in a rented Toyota with absolutely no planning. We had no agenda or map and it was long before cell phones and GPS. We used a map of the country printed on the back of a Denny's tray liner to navigate as best we could. While looking for Detroit, we ended up at the Canada border, where the guards were obsessed with the possibility of us having guns (we didn't). No passport needed then, but they seemed to think all young american men were packing heat. :) We spent that night in Windsor, which won the prize for the trip's cheapest roadside motel at $11.99 Canadian.

Hahaha fantastic story - I bet it was as epic as it sounds. I can picture you guys with your Denny’s map and go-wherever mindset. So good.

In our 37+ year history we’ve done a couple of those big road trips, crossing from Ottawa out to the west coast through the US. One was in my CRX and Andrew’s Integra GSR and then a few years later we reprised it in his S2000 and my RSX. Talk about a great way to see the country.

More recently, we’ve spent our road trip time on the amazing roads a little closer to home, in West Virginia, but I can bet money on the fact that you’ll see The GTS Chronicles take those two glorious red Porsches out on another great circle type trip!!

Hi all,

As part of the long wait for allocations, The GTS Chronicles guys have been trying to keep track of order, allocation and delivery mentions in the forums for the past while. The idea behind it being seeing if we can see any trends, movement, etc. in the allocations coming our way from Porsche.

Amazingly, we have now over 100 entries in our table, so here it is, for your perusal:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... p=sharing

If you want to add your info into the mix (if you haven't done so already) please give one of us a shout.

Happy waiting!

I received a call from Beverly Hills Porsche the first week of July 2021 that someone cancelled their order so they gave me the allocation. I ordered the car immediately, placed a $3,000 deposit the next day. It locked a few weeks later.

A good feeling this week, as a GTS Chronicles aficionado dipped his own toe into the Porsche pool and purchased a 2018 Cayman S in GT Silver.

We'd scoped it out on our last visit to our dealership and given him the goods on how it looked. Fast-forward a few days and the deal was done and he's the proud new owner. Visiting with him this weekend reminded me just how damn good the Cayman looks in the flesh. It sits beautifully on the road, all hunkered-down stance and ready to spring into action. Wide hips, that flow back from the fender line, along the door - it really is a beautiful machine.

Driving with it in my rear-view mirror, a subtle detail I'd not noticed - the amber-when-lit turn signals NOT integrated into the main headlight cluster. Nice. I could also hear it rumbling behind me at a stoplight, eager to just romp away at the first sign of the green.

Despite my own frustrations with the waiting and the longing, seeing his car in the flesh, and the grin on his face as he talked about how quickly he came to appreciate the engineering in the car, well, it just gave me all the good feels. Am I jealous? Sure. But not in a bad way. I'm thrilled for him, and feel only heightened anticipation for me when my time comes.

That Boxster is going to be one damn fine point of pride for me. As this Cayman is for him.

Here's to summer 2023 (I hope).

Nice. Note however that Winston's Cayman is an S, not a GTS.

I agree the Cayman is just a great looking car and one of the purest sports cars out there. A friend (up in Canada actually) has an early Cayman S manual (2008 if memory serves) that I've driven a few times -- just a great little car.

On an unrelated note, I assume your cars will have US-Spec bumpers? Do you know what the license plate requirements are for your post-pick-up drive? Since my license plate mounts are designed for the US/Canada, I don't think they've ever been used in Europe. If you had any interest in changing that, let me know. :)
