Stand is the best part 😁
Collective wisdom is that TIG welding aluminum is much harder than steel. Since day one, however, I really only used that welder on aluminum, so that's all I know. When I needed to make a stand on the fly, the TIG welder was already all set up from doing the pipes, so I found that scrap steel and used the TIG to put it together. It was so foreign to me, I ended up welding the stand to the table and had to chisel it off.

Looks awesome I really like that powder coat, I’ll have to do mine. I mocked these 2.5” pipes up and had a friend weld them up, wish the pie cut came out cleaner but that’s what happens when you use a friends lol

Thanks, that was Eastwood's Satin Black. It make a nice, almost textured, finish that looks right under the hood. :) Can't get a good view of those pie cuts, but can see maybe they are a bit clumpy (technical term). Looks like you could cut all that off the end of the pipe and weld on a curved section in its place....?

I used to do a lot of powder coating - looks great on day one but when it gets chipped / scratched its hard to touch up. Track cars have a hard life and its difficult to keep them nice. Currently I either polish the aluminum or use the 2K hot rod satin spray can paint. That stuff is really tough and easy to touch up! It tough enough of my aftermarket control arms.
BTW - the polished manifold in my other thread pic used to have a translucent red powered coating, looked really nice when it was new....and then not so much as it got a lot of use!
