My loaner in the past has always been a Macan, this time I got a used Cayenne since they anticipate a long time until I return it. I already have a Cayenne so it's almost identical, just 1 year newer(2018).
No updates from the dealer, I expect their next call will be to tell me the replacement engine is in.

To update, my SA called today to tell me I should be able to pick up my car tomorrow. They were supposed to call me when the engine came in so I could come look at it but they dropped the ball, but they took pics before and during the installation. It came with everything attached, they just basically had to bolt it in and plug in all the cables, plus attach the exhaust, transaxle, etc.

The dealer's shop finished my car Saturday morning, the engine arrived there early last week but my salesman was off and no one notified me. The did take pics of it for me which is fine, I might not have been able to go up and view it anyway. So yesterday morning we drove up to Chattanooga to get the car. I returned on a longer than usual route avoiding the interstate so as to vary the engine speed and avoid using the cruise control. The normally 60 mile trip took more like 80-85 total and we avoided most of the rain but got hit with a light shower right after leaving the dealer. So far so good, although the exhaust sounds somewhat different if my memory is correct(that is always in question these days). Also, I seem to detect a bit of squirrely twitching from the rear end on throttle lift occasionally. I don't know what they could be, maybe they didn't get the half shafts tight, but why would those even be removed? I'm calling them to discuss. Overall, they had the car for 29 days and I think that is pretty good since the original replacement engine was condemned when it was found to have the same oil pump as my old one, and the new one had to be shipped from Germany. With all the delays in shipping, port issues, trucking issues, etc. that is remarkable.
I have been given a CPO warranty to kick in after the original 4 year/50,000 mile warranty expires, two additional years or 100,000 miles, plus a 3 year free maintenance plan. I'm satisfied with that and feel overall I have been treated more than fair.

I drove the car today to test out this rear end looseness on a smooth road to eliminate any imperfections that might be masking the car's behavior. At a steady 55 mph in 4th gear if I apply throttle the rear end steps out the right, and abrupt backing off on the throttle causes it to step out left. Almost a tail wagging feeling. PASM? I've alerted the dealer and will take it back next week for their assessment. (Travel prevents me getting it to them any earlier).

I'm not sure I can advise you on the issues you are having (Actually I know I can't)... seems like you might be onto something with the PASM though. With all the sensors and the like they need to hook up, it always makes me wonder if they got them all , but I'd also assume there might be a code/light thrown too if that was the case.
I did want to at least chime in and say I was happy to hear you got a new motor and the extra warranty etc they provided. Seems like you got a good place to work with and I'm sure they'll fix this and make it right as well... however annoying it is to have to go all the way back there!
Best of luck!
Ryan

Very glad to hear they gave you such a complete motor and are standing behind it for years to come. Sounds like they are doing the best the can given the circumstances.
As for the rear end, do you know if they aligned the car after replacing the motor? I've read and heard the 981 and now 718 rear ends can act weird if the alignment isn't just right, and it seems at least possible yours is off the mark given all the work that was done. I assume no dash lights are on, including tire pressure warnings. I once had a half-flat rear tire on long trip and would have bet money my rear suspension was shifting left/right.
(The half shafts need to be unbolted from the transaxle so the transaxle can be removed, which is needed to get the engine out, assuming it's like earlier Caymans....)
Hang in there, you're nearly there! Once it's all sorted and you are happy with it, pictures of the whole car are a must.
