Is 991.2 the "sweet spot" for looking for a 1st time 911?

I have a 2015 Macan S and a 2014 Cayman S. I had a 1992 911 and sold it when I bought the Macan. I am 73. I have no problems now with the Cayman and it is tighter than the 911. I am 5'8" and 165 lbs. I also am active and fit. If you are fit and close to my body you should have no problems. I love both cars, but even though the Macan is a sporty SUV and fun to drive, it doesn't compare to the Cayman.

A sweet spot is personal!!!
I'm closing in on 74 and hip replacement. I have a 2013 Carrera s Cabrio MT which is super easy to get in and out if the top is down, I know that's cheating. But regarding 991 & 992, I think it has the amount of knobs vs having a touch screen is perfect for me. I can now adjust the radio, a/c and heat temps etc without the need to read a display like a cell phone. I've had it almost11 years now and it's a keeper.

Depends what you want.
I didn't want a turbo in 2018 when the 991.2 was available. Instead at the time, I lucked into a 2015 991.1 GTS with a 7-speed manual that had a mere 157 kms or 98 miles on it.
So a 991.2 or the 992 that I drive on the track is not "my" sweet spot.

Yes I would say so 991.2, but can't go wrong with 991.1, which can be had for a lower price. Just add a carplay unit and it's up to speed on tech.

Well, I’ll be 82 in a month, have a bad leg due to nerve damage in my back and just got back into a 911 . For you youngsters it’s a 991.2 with sport buckets and stick shift puts a smile on my face just don’t watch me getting out
