FYI: Ftech9 is now accepting preorders for the NA 944 MAF kit, https://www.ftech9.com/new-products/maf ... na-8-valve. The price is $450; an Ftech9 Sport DME with OBD+ is required as all MAF conversions are performed by OBD+ firmware. Looks great... can't wait for the 944 Turbo version ;)

ImageHi Everyone!

Well, it has been about a year, and I believe I have worked out all the issues with the "all-new" Sport DME design. I should have full production units next week. Assuming c5_pilot continues to be happy with the prototype he is testing, I expect to lauch in a week or two!

Hmmm... How does this differ from the other ones you are/were selling (i.e., the one I got) :shifty:

Any plans to make a KLR?

Obviously, the main difference is no core DME is required, once an order is placed, I just ship it. Other than that, there four significant updates/options.

Flywheel Senor Circuit
First, the flywheel sensor circuit is completely redesigned and is much more sensitive than the factory circuit based on the S100 chip. This means it will keep you running on a failing flywheel sensor much longer.

Injector Driver
Second, the injector driver is also completely redesigned. It is now a standard "peak-and-hold" driver rather than the factory "Peak-and-Modulated Hold" driver. This should solve compatibly issues with modern low-inductance injectors.

ZIF Socket
Third, you will be able to order it with an optional ZIF (Zero Insertion Force) socket. This is the same kind of socket you find in chip programmers and makes removing/installing the DME chip simple, even with bent pins.

Ostrich Cable Support
And fourth, there will be an optional back plate to feed the Ostrich programmer ribbon cable through. This back place will also have a built-in strain relief for the cable, so you don't need to worry about the cable coming loose or yanking the plug out of the EPROM socket by accident.

Nice updates, thanks. Just FYI, Moates is back in business and just sent me a brand new Ostrich, so the world is no longer at the mercy of "Boosted NW"....

You are too kind, thank you. I would not want any special favors though -- your ongoing support for Carpokes is more than enough. Now if you wanted to offer a group buy or something to other Carpokes members, I'd be all in for that. This place exists for the benefit of the members -- small businesses like yourself included!

I'd certainly be open to getting one of these completely new DMEs if my original Sport DME w/OBD+ had any trade-in value.

Also , for those interested in MAF for the 951, check out Joe's recent RL or Instagram posts https://www.instagram.com/p/DGEWwvMz2DH ... BiNWFlZA==

Tom,

As for a replacement KLR, yes absolutely! I would have had this project done by now but decided to develop MAF instead thinking it would be relatively quick and easy. For the record, developing MAF conversations for the 944 is definitely not a simple task. I have huge respect for legends like John Vitesse and Josh Cunningham. It is amazing they were able to get it to work on an antiquated 8-bit microcontroller and written entirely in assembly language.
