After arriving home and driving the car for 2000km the engine started sucking oil like it was oxygen. I took the car to a specialty Porsche shop that prepared cars for SCCA racing. They wanted $5000 to pull the engine and tell me what was wrong. Forget about it. I got an LT 1 engine from a Corvette and swapped it in place of the original engine. It really made for a great car now. I have just taken delivery of a cayenne turbo S 2006. I look forward to working with this car as well. It is faster than my Mercedes C 55 AMG. I am happy to be a member of Carpokes. Ralfdieter Heinrich
Welcome to Carpokes!

Welome to Carpokes John! Lots of us retired types here! Although, I seem to work 60 hours a week in retirement somehow...

BTW, if you get a chance to work with Porsche Philadelphia Main Line, do it. Literally, from the time I landed at PHL airport to the time I was driving my car home was less than 1hr and 45min. That included a drive from the airport, quick test drive in the 3RS and overview of everything by the salesman in the car. The group is incredible. Organized, no BS, transparent and very responsive. If I knew all my car purchases were that easy, I'd be broke!!!
Sounds like a successful trip. Amazing how even cash deals at the dealership can take 4 hours AFTER already settling on the price.

New member here in NJ
Retired from communications work and a business owner.
Recent purchased 1987 911 Targa (guards red)
Had such a great experience flying to visit the "new" car and meeting a fellow Porsche enthusiast and making the deal. Transport pi king it up today. I think even my wife may like this one. Warm weather is just around the corner.....ice cream run time.

Hello to All,
My first ride in a Porsche was many moons ago in a 68 912. It was amazing. Have owned many fun cars such as the S2000, TR-6, Mini Cooper, my current ride being a Subaru BRZ (also known as a poorsche - I know some will roll your eyes, lol), etc, but never a Porsche.
Now retired wanting a 912 Targa, however my problem is the Augusta GA area. Augusta is the 2nd largest city in Georgia behind Hot-Lanta and there is no certified mechanic that I can find that can do real/quality work on a 912. So any help finding one is appreciated. If there’s a mechanic looking for an opportunity, this just might be it. THANKS!!!

Welcome to you new members and I am having trouble keeping up with all of you since so many have found Carpokes of late. Heck, we blew by 7200 members so fast we have not even had time to revise our member number. There are quite a few of us here that are retired though many are staying quite active. If you have just gotten a new to you Porsche check out your local PCA Region, join, and consider doing a Driver Education session at a track near you. Driving a Porsche at speed is another pleasure in life one must experience and at a PCA Event it is all legal ............and way safer than on the highway with all those Prius and Tesla drivers, haha!
