The hits just keep coming - both of your cars not only look brand new, they are masterpieces in their own right. 50 and 54 years old and standing tall. To be able to go back in time...

Excellent composition and settings compliment them both too.

Welcome to Carpokes Michael.

@Michael N - as a foolish youngster, I didn't understand the virtues of the 914, especially the 6 cylinder variant. Not enough grunt for my Woodward stoplight ethos. The lines are still weak tea to me, but everything else remains amazing - light weight, go-kart steering, boat-anchor brakes, power where you need it, and turns on a rail. As gorgeous as your cars are, I would hang on to them - 914 values are climbing as idiots like me wake up to their virtues. BTW, incredible photography.

Thanks. I was also one of the people who never gave too much love to the 914 until I actually drove one. I grew up in Silicon Valley in the 70’s and 80’s. My neighbor across the street had a red 80’s Carrera Targa. I had that car burnt in my mind that I would get one when I could afford it. My first Porsche was an 1982 SC Targa. I had never gave too much thought to the 914 until I purchased the bumblebee on a whim from the local classifieds (prior to Craigslist) . After driving the 914, I knew I needed to find a 914-6. The 914 is like a go cart and so toss-able on the backroads. I found this factory six in Redding California. It was originally owned by Georgia racer Ted Tidwell out of Augusta, Ga. It had an engine swap in the late 70’s as the owner at that time wanted more power for his hill climbs and autocross. It receive a 2.4 liter engine with the MFI out of a 1973 911 S. Grady Clay did the conversion work at the time of the swap.

Beautiful - the car has provenance, as well. I'll bet it's a blast to drive. My 935 only weighs 2,400 pounds, with a rear weight bias, so it also has that go-kart DNA in the steering (although it does not behave like a go-kart at the limit!). All my Caterhams had that same fingertip-controllable, chatty steering, and my current Alfa 4C is not far behind. I hope my Lola finishes out the same. Light, tactile steering is very high on my desirability list, and you have it in spades in both cars. Salutare, Michael!

New to CarPokes. My brother purchased this 1984 911 Carrera new as an employee of VWOA at the New Stanton Assembly plant. He ordered it in April 1983 and was to be built as an 1983 SC. It was manufactured in 12/83 as a 1984 Carrera. Unfortunately, he passed suddenly in Dec 2022 and I became the new owner. I have the purchase order he filled out at VWOA HR, all purchase paper work, dealer literature, and the original window sticker with tape strips still on it as Sewickley Porsche did not put stickers on the window. Currently riding on Ruf Speedlines with new Continentals along with Ruf Brakes and Ruf front valence. I have the original mint Fuchs, brakes and front spoiler. Just turned 40k. Never in weather, always garaged. 100% original paint, mint interior, a/c converted to 134a, sun roof delete. Just did major tuneup, still has original wiper blades, Blaupunkt Bremen(have Monterey). Really loving it. Honoring my brother by driving it and keeping it nice.

That's provenance and a wonderful way to honor your brother too. And what a car! There cannot be many with that kind of complete history.

Welcome to Carpokes and thank you for joining the group!

@1984ruf - sorry for your loss. Good to hear your beautifully-maintained 1983 911 SC will continue to receive regular miles. My streetable 935 began life as a 1982 911 SC, and also provides several thousand miles of driving enjoyment every year. Maybe we'll exchange honks sometime on the road!
