Thanks again gentlemen, your advice is really appreciated. Carpokes has been great!, with only few brief posts/replies I feel like I'm honing in on my perfect Porsche. I'm sure I'll have several more questions as I get closer to pulling the trigger but for now "The search is on!"

Hi Everyone, I'm Don from Ft. Pierce Florida. Just purchased my first Porsche this Spring, a 2005 911 Carrera S with 24K miles. I have been a car guy forever, as my dad was a Ford mechanic, and all five of us boys had to work with him to rebuild some junk car he hauled home that needed a motor. I was a street racer in my high school days with a 65 Barracuda, which was actually my third car. My first was a 54 Chevy (the one with the motor rebuild but I was under age and my older brother needed wheels after he shelled the engine in his Fairlane). My dad drug home a 61 Falcon that needed an engine...so I got some extra training. Then came the Cuda.
I belong to the Space Coast club and have met some great people who are willing to talk Porsche all day long, which has helped me understand the culture. Love my car and am so impressed with the German engineering that I decided to double down and buy a brand new BMW Z4 for my summer daily driver up North. No, it's not a Porsche, but I'm not a snob either and they make a great car...not as great as Porsche, but fun to drive none-the-less.
Looking forward to learning more from the members of this group.

Welcome aboard Don, nice intro.
You can post pics of the Z4 too, we do not mind a bit

@Carrera54
Welcome to Carpokes Don! Congrats on your two German autos - both are fine machines. I can see why the Carrera Cab likes it's Florida home: no winter snow and lots of sunshine!
Great people here along with excellent shared experiences and info. Please join in whenever the mood calls for it or a subject in the forum begs your participation.

Hi everyone!
I recently picked up a 1987 951 and have been loving the hell out of it. I met some friends of Carpokes from the Porsche Heritage event that happened on 6/22/2025 and one of them suggested I joined this community!
Name: Jacob Inman
Location: Corralitos, CA (also living in Calgary, AB Canada but that’s another story)
Current fun cars: 1987 951 which was raced in its previous ownership all throughout the 90’s and has a handful of mods to support it. 2007 Lexus GX470 for everything else, I include it here because I will be going out in public trails to explore once I get AT tires. Gotta have the ideal two car setup ya’know?
Occupation: Mechanical Engineer in Metrology (engineering of measurement). Worked at Lucid Motors for a few years before moving to Canada for my wife and I moved back this March for a job at Joby.
First Porsche: first and only Porsche (for now) is my 951!
I met a couple of you at the Heritage event at Stevens Creek (Eddie and Carl) and happy to meet more of yall.
I’ve been going on a lot of fun and fast drives with my car through the Santa Cruz mountains. It will sit for a while as I need tires newer than 2011 (yes, I have very old tires in good condition on the car) and more updated maintenance.

Welcome to Carpokes - glad to have you as part of the family. Great cars, great help & advice and, more importantly, great people!

Welcome aboard Jacob. I 'think' we met briefly when I was hanging out with Eddie. I spent a lot of time checking out your car -- very nice and I'm a sucker for a white 951. It was just missing a Carpokes sticker on the quarter glass.

I was trying to figure out if your interior is the traditional Porsche Burgundy? It may have been the sun, or my 2-day-old auto-tinting glasses, but the seats and carpet looked so much browner (more brown?) than a typical maroon interior. Was that just my imagination. Looked great either way. Welcome to Carpokes!

Hi everyone!
@blueline, my wife also turned me back onto ice cream. I’m mostly a chocolate ice cream guy but she reminded me how good bubblegum ice cream can be!
@P_Coastal, small world! Are you Canadian or did you move up there for that job? I’ll be moving back in a few years so the 951 will allow me to have as much fun as possible with our California roads before going back to Calgary’s boring, straight, roads.
@Tom, you were actually the one who convinced me to join! I accidentally mixed up your name and Carl, who I met with a blue 356C. Sorry! I would imagine the interior is the original Porsche burgundy as the previous owner took VERY good care of the car and I doubt he would’ve changed the interior bits outside of the half cage and racing seat. Looks like I’ll need to find myself a CarPokes! Sticker

As the beer commercial goes: I am Canadian.
Calgary is a good location because the mountains are so close. Just need to get out and explore.
