So fortunate to be in Southern California where there is no “off season” for driving.

I'm in TN so certainly not as brutal as further north but we do still have winter that can come and go with a fair amount of unpredictability and intensity. However, winter wheel/tire sets go on all our Porsches around this time of year. They get driven whenever desired.

Rotated wheels/tires.

Bugs & Rubber, a new R&R band. Or a long lost Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies cartoon featuring our favorite rabbit.

Also cleaned off remaining rubber in the wheel barrels, on the wheels, and in the rear radiator slats in the front wheel fender liners.

Quite a bit remained after a full day at Barber and the 225 mile ride back home at 85+ mph. (How much fell off?) The piece I'm holding is over 6" long - an odd shape for track rubber.

Nice rubber collection Tim!

I did a two day track event with the local PCA club at a track called INDE Motorsports Ranch in Wilcox, AZ. It is a great track because there is lots of elevation changes and many different configurations. We did 4 sessions per day, 2 x 25 minutes and 2 x 35 minutes. Each day I used nearly a full tank of gas. Brakes felt great, really liking the Ferrodo 3.12 pads.

I have a similar tire booger collection, just not cleaned up the car yet. I have more than a normal amount of tire marks on the paint and PPF to clean off, normally use a general purpose de-greaser to remove them. Looking at some of the options in the market now, a friend at the track was using Mothers R3 Racing Rubber Remover.

The 255/285 tire combo was really good, allowed the car to rotate well and predictability. The tires seemed to really like the 30-32 range when hot.

The track is a 3 hour drive each way and with that and all of the track time I was able to test my clutch line repair and build confidence that the new line works as good as it looks.

Finally it was my first event with the Puma Speedcat shoes. They are light and flexible giving great feel of the pedals. They also had all day wear comfort. Initially they just felt like shoes and I was not sure I notice the difference over my baseline of Vans shoes. On my three hour drive home I put the Vans back on and that is when I noticed the difference. I will add this comment to the Shoe thread as well.

Edit: This weekend was the first time I started to trail brake, I wonder if the improved feel from the shoes contributed?

Very fine Jeremy! Elevation changes and blind entries are always good challenges and fun. The INDE track looks to be a good one based on what I can see on their website. Wish I could summon a teleportation device for me and the car!

Ok - here is the bomb for removing rubber marks - it's from Sealmaster and is water-based, water soluble, neutral Ph, no harsh chemicals, easy rinsing/wiping off and will absolutely not harm any PPF or paint, no matter how high-end it might be. It only takes a small amount on a rag and marks disappear almost instantly.

PPF and ceramic installers along with detailers with whom I've shared the product have been greatly impressed. It works better (and is safer) than what they use. I've been using it for over 10-years - it's awesome. If interested, look for a Sealmaster dealer (paving company suppliers).

All good to know! I have been in the 29-30 range lately when hot, probably a degree or two lower than optimum for me.

Your drive to INDE there is similar to mine to Barber which is 20 or so miles east of Birmingham, AL.

And yes, shoes definitely make a big difference!

If you do figure out the teleport part I want to go back to the first two tracks I ever ran, Road Atlanta and Barber Motorsports park.

Looking at Sealmaster dealers now, I see there are two in town.

Nebraska was 63 yesterday and 67 today, so my Chalk Cayman GTS ( that is almost your twin ) was out getting those valuable break in miles out of the way. Put 250 miles on her Sunday and today and ..........tomorrow it is supposed to be 70 degrees! I may get the little Chalk Croc broken in before Santa comes, ha.
