That looks to be an excellent setup. The stance looks very good too. :thumbup:

I would guess that everything is quite different from before - handling, looks, responsiveness - and lap times... :D

Yeah - the biggest difference was in responsiveness and stability - no more "twitchiness" from the rear end at speed and the predictability of letting the rear slide was vastly improved. Highly recommend if you're thinking about mods (I have 0 power mods on the car and can keep up with higher HP cars now).

Hi! I'm Patrick. Recently joined up to leverage the 944 tuning thread materials and am super stoked to be part of the community.

Name: Patrick S.

Location: Chicagoland, IL

Current cars: 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo (fun, modded), 2011 VW Touareg TDI (fun-ish, my tow and road trip rig)

Occupation: I sell shoes (former software engineer, current software engineering manager for a shoe company)

What hooked me on Porsches: I had a 930 poster on my wall growing up and a few Porsche Hotwheels cars, but what finally got me was driving a Boxster which belonged to a friend's dad in high school. It's been all downhill ever since :-).

First Porsche: Also my current Porsche, 1986 944 Turbo. The story... I bought it 10 years ago, sight unseen, via a Craigslist post in OKC. Had a local PCA member conduct the drive and pre-purchase inspection (shout out to Brian Swope of PCA Warbonnet). He let me know that the car, while complete and running, certainly fit the distinction of being "the cheapest running Turbo in the country" at the time and that I should be prepared to touch every system in the car to get it up to decent street/HPDE specification. I wired the guy my money, set up pickup/transport, then got put on a jury for a two week medical malpractice trial while the car was in transit, lol. During a lunch break, my wife sent me pictures of it being unloaded and it was waiting for me at home.

I did, indeed, touch every part of this car. Little kids meant working late nights in the garage, often in fits and starts, over 7 years before it was road worthy again. It now has a rebuilt motor, transmission (with wavetrac), new paint, new interior, performance modifications, f9tech DME, and more. It's been on track at Blackhawk Farms and Road America and I'm looking forward to more events this year.

On another note, the kids now have the bug as well - our favorite racing team is AO with the 911 GT3 'Rawr' Rexy/Roxy :-)

@pizatski

Great background story and a fun read. Jury duty during the arrival of your first Porsche! :lol:

Anyway, your car looks great now, so huge congrats on completion of a long project. (You must have a lot of patience - that undertaking reflects perseverance, for sure! :thumbup: )

Welcome to Carpokes! (And thanks for the other posts you've made such as the track video!)
