Did you ever experience the front members each living a life of its own when cutting the front cross brace?

Thanks for the shots with paint...good clear views of interior minus ALL trim and sound deadening....useful for future reference.

I have seen that done a number of time. Once you are in front of the shock towers there is not much added chassis stiffness so you can end the frame rails there if you want.

Very cool pictures. What did you paint it with? I suppose the beauty of a race car is that you can always add structural bracing and cross-members as needed wherever they fit....

its called 'Delfleet Essential' PPG paint. its an epoxy paint designed for 'fleet' use. Meaning that its very tough and affordable! I have used it before and its a very hard finish....but you need to cover everything in a 2 mile radius - it sticks to everything and dries as hard as hell!

nice tip from this project - Home Depot has 'generic' tyvek 9' x 150' for about $100. Great to build a temp paint booth by taping it to the ceiling around the car. The Delfleet Essential 2k epoxy paint has a hell of an overspray that is sticky as hell. For a couple of hours after the spray you could hear you shoes sticking to the floor!

A lot of brackets, tabs, studs and stuff were removed before paint. amazing how many things were added by Porsche. Probably took of 20lbs in not needed attachment hardware.
