How's the paint job coming along, Dennis?

Hey Ian! Yeah I'm a little slow on the updates lately. Ron was doing his final once-over after priming and found a few areas that needed additional attention. Most notably, the front driver's side fender must have had a previous repair and there were some signs of surface rust:

Ron was able to grind it down and do the repair

Everything is now "all systems are a go" and ready for paint! He's just waiting for the booth, which has to be done on a weekend. Looks like it's only a few weeks before the car will be done and on it's way back to Raleigh!

Looking good! If that corner was damaged, make sure the speed nut is ok in the corner where the nose panel bolts up. Ask me how I know.

Thanks Tom! When Ron fixed the fender, he put the header panel back and made sure that speed nut still lined up. His attention to detail on this project has been nothing short of superb!

Really encouraging. I'm on the lookout for a good painter who is not just a collision guy. I haven't found anyone near here fitting that description and I'm not above renting a trailer and taking my car out of state for this. Keep the reports coming!

Let’s get group pricing for painting our 944/968 cars. Your paint guy will have work for the next few years based on the quality of his work we’re seeing.

I have another, and very exciting update! The car has officially been repainted and cleared. It's back from the booth and in Ron's garage to continue the cure process and begin reassembly. Ron has told me that picture updates will be minimal from now on, so that the surprise is bigger when he delivers it in the next 3-4 weeks. Here are some of the latest pics:
**For those that haven't read the first post, the respray color is the factory LY5Z, Nautic/Ocean Blue Metallic.

At this point, I think my next (and final) update will be upon delivery in the next few weeks. It's been quite the saga, but as of right now I'm 100% certain I picked the right person for the job!
