If not, I would wrap a tow strap around the bumper shocks, center the straps in the middle of the bumper and pull from there. Should be able to get to the bumper shocks from under the bumper. It is a long shot, but I read that some cars came with a tow eyelet in the tool roll.
Good luck with the pick up.

Thanks! I should have enough strap to try the shocks. I'm just guessing this doesn't have a screw in eye. Not even sure if that feature is on this year.

Correct, no threaded tow eye bolt. Those are fitted on the turbo, S2 and R.O.W. bumpers.
The head studs are not long enough to grab onto but... there are towing eye brackets bolted to the front right and left frame horn extensions (near the power steering pump and AC compressor). If those are missing, a tow strap will work in a basket configuration. Come from under the bumper, go over the bumper strut and back down under the bumper. Try to not pull directly on the bumper as it can be easily torn from its mounts.

I once had a tow truck driver wrap straps around the control arms to get it up on his flatbed. I bought a tow took the next day and have had it in the car ever since...

That's what the transport company did when I bought mine. I thought for sure they were going to destroy things as the air dam area flexed ... it did break a couple clips, but that was all. Details on this tow hook you speak of?

This is what I purchased last year for a HPDE.

Price seems to be similar to other suppliers.

Right, this is the one I have too. Fun trivia: it's reverse threaded because most twisted steel cables generate a counter clockwise twist when pulled, and this way the cable isn't trying to unscrew the hook.

Per barnwerks, sounds like the n/a number doesn't accept the hook though :(

I finally got eyes on the car! She's... rough, but that was expected. Hatch does appear to be ok. At least the pins line up. It was a pain to get open and once we did the latch didn't go back to latching. Not a big deal. I just want it shut for the tow ride.
Anyways, it didn't come home with me today. Mainly because of the rain, it's sitting in mud up to the rims, plus tires are flat and I forgot my compressor. He also didn't have the title because its locked in his grandmas safe and she's not home. I was in deep good ol boy TN country today! Sunday is supposed to be nice. Hopefully things dry out a little by then.
I did grab the VIN and a pic of the tag in the hatch.

So close. :)

VIN confirms it's an '85 (and interior says it's an '85.5).

Getting closer for sure! Thanks Tom!
Was 85.5 the last model to have the big 944 plate between the tail lights? Always thought that was a pretty cool look, which this has.

The plastic 944 center light with the license plate bracket on the bumper is an aftermarket add on. My driver turbo had something similar when I purchased it. That was one of the first things I removed and relocated the plate bracket back to its proper place.
