Hi, I learned about this forum chasing rear license plate attachments from Tom. Looks like fun to be at the beginning!

I've had a 1984 Carrera 3.2 Targa for almost 20 years. Done a bunch of maintenance and some suspension refresh over the years, used it as a daily for about five years (roughly 70k miles) then it's been more like 5k per year since. Got serious about driving it again a couple years ago when I rejoined the local PCA chapter and started doing arrive and drives with them. Over the years getting to know the car and learning from a bunch of folks on Pelican I kept thinking of how it would have been great to have actually ordered that car the way I wanted it back in '84.

When the 992 came out in early 2019, I noticed they completely revised the interior and I really liked the changes and the throwback to the earlier cars. Every time I visited the configurator previously, I really didn't care for the interior. Anyway, I really liked both the inside and exterior of the 992 so I started considering ordering one, spent a bunch of time on the configurator and worked through a ton of variations, landing on a C2S in Miami Blue with Black/Bordeaux interior.

Shortly after the cars started showing up at dealers (remember when dealers had cars?) I went to the Porsche store locally and discussed timing and and the ordering process. My goal was to order for delivery spring of 2021 to coincide with retirement and also to get it at the beginning if the driving season. I'm in Portland and wanted to get it at PEC Atlanta then drive across country. The SA told me to make that happen, I'd need to order November/December of 2020. Late summer of 2020 I start hearing Porsche will be discontinuing Miami Blue so I reach out to the SA in August 2020 and he tells me I'm too late, missed the opportunity for that color. My first question is can you reach out to PCNA and make sure because I'd called them and they said they'd be building Miami blue through December of 2020. He wasn't interested.

I dug around in the various forums and heard good things about the Las Vegas dealership. A guy on RL from Alaska ordered through them for a pickup at PECATL and raved about them. Late August, I cold called the SA the guy from Alaska recommended and got a call back in about an hour. He spent a good hour and a half going over options and told me he thought he might be able to rangle an allocation in time to get a MB car. I gave them a deposit and off we went. About a month later he comes up with a configurable build out of Maryland and the did a trade for it. The next day, I get a Track Your Dream invite and it looks like I'm in business. Two days later, they call and say PCNA just told them that PAG just painted the last MB car (in mid-September).

We discuss a bunch of color options from the standard list and frankly, none of them really spoke to me. They then come back and tell me they can work with me on mitigating the cost of a custom color. I spent the next month working with the SA on ideas and looking at a bunch of photos on line. He calls one day and says he's got a customer that did a GT3T in Oslo blue with Black/Bordeaux interior and it looked great. I ask if there's any chance i could come to LV to see it. He calls the next day and tells me the owner would be happy to bring it in if I want to come to town. o

So almost a year to the day from giving him my deposit, i collected my Oslo blue 992 from PECLA. it could be said that I added too much weight of picked the wrong options but the best part about this endeavor is I got my car exactly the way I wanted it. Then I had full PPF and tint done and I also have had a bunch of additional leather items done that I couldn't get (or more correctly didn't want to pay for) by Porsche Exclusive Manufactur and those really make the interior special to me, since that's where I spend all my time. I've loved all 3300 miles so far and looking forward to trying to get to 100k. This will be my last car.

Thanks for making it this far!

Best,
Karl

Hi everyone.
I found out about this forum from multiple sources:
1. "Crazy Eddie" included a business card for carpokes when he sent me his LWBS side bolster protectors.
2. A Rennlist thread started by Tom on rear license plate mounts.

Why would I read a thread on rear bumper mounts you ask? Well, I just took delivery of a 718 GT4 recently and I got my California plates in the mail today. The dealer installed a metal vanity plate along with my temporary paper plate. Well, after taking off the vanity plate and the paper plate, I noticed two things. First, there are no screw threads in the rear bumper - normally not too big a problem if you mount the plate once. Just a bit annoying and I expect more from Porsche (never had a problem with other manufacturers). Secondly, the metal vanity plate already vibrated enough to nick the paint on my rear bumper down to the plastic of the bumper. Hence the OCD in me fired up google to look for a solution online and here I am!

Hope to have many a discussion about Porsche and cars in general here!

Anthony

Hi all,

Adam Scott Weintraub, attorney in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Daily driver is a 2015 Targa 4S. Before that, DD was a 2009 Cayman S.

I'm waiting on a 2022 GT4 in Gentian Blue Metallic. Sadly, due to my wife's strict, "no 3 Porsches for Adam" rule, I sold my 2002 996tt (under the horribly mistaken idea that my GT4 was going to be delivered at the originally-promised date). I'd sold my 964 Carrera 2 to make room for the turbo... which I'd sold a 1988 M3 to make room for originally.

I do love that girl. I also wish I still had ALL those cars!
Currently: 2022 GT4 Gentian Blue
2023 718 BGTS Racing Yellow
Used to have: 996tt X50, 964 Carrera 2, 987.2

Did I mention that I love my wife?

Jeff Huber is a buddy of mine. Happens to own & operate Huber Restorations here in Tulsa. He'd rebuilt this Zermatt (?) Silver/burgundy C2 that had gotten rearended and totaled. But, it wasn't that much damage, really, and Jeff does great work. I was there when the car was towed in and I told Jeff that when he was done with the car I wanted it! Jeff did his usual incredible job, drove the car himself for a year and then sold it to me.
Which was great... until the guy I worked for when I was 16--a hero of mine--called me out of the blue to tell me I needed to buy his 996tt X50.
I still keep in contact with the son of the guy who bought the 964 (the son works for Jeff) and maybe someday I can convince Leisa that 3 is a wonderful number of Porsches!

FWIW, the M3 was an amazing car, but I was always struck by how much more car the 964 was. Superior in every way. And then, moving to a turbo... whew! I'm really going through withdrawals without it. My delivery date for the GT4 has slipped 3 times now with no explanation.

Bought my first air cooled Porsche in 2006, a 1977 911S Targa, spent 6 years restoring it, sold it for stupid money in 2014. Bought a 99 996 Cab. Low miles, well cared for 60K miles. Uh oh, about time for ISB and rms to go I thought as the engine work had not upgraded. Drove that car for a couple years and sold it for what I bought it for. Fast forward to 2019, and found a low mileage 944 (951) Turbo in great shape, 30K miles, no accidents, clean car. Fixed a few small issues, new brakes, tires, plugs, etc. Driving it along one summer day and all of a sudden a loud grinding noise from the transaxle caught my attention, uh oh, now what? Found out it was a broken ring/pinion tooth. Found a clean used transaxle, put it in and sold the car. This past spring found a spotless 2010 one owner, low mileage base Cayman on C.L. In Vermont. At 75, getting to old to be crawling around on my back, hands and knees fixing cars. Wanted a car I could drive and enjoy. This is the one. Very happy with it.

Hello all, found this forum chasing the license plate mounts which I just ordered. I currently have a 2022 992 GTS ordered and am spending my winter gathering stuff for it. Started out with a 1995 C2S that I ordered and had for about 7 years. Sold the car due to family obligations (kids to raise). Got back with a 2016 C2S, then a 2018 C4S, and then a 2019 Turbo S. Took another short break with a few others and am excited to be back with the current ordered car.
I live in Newtown Square PA, about a mile from Porsche of the Mainline. I am a ceramic tile contractor and happen to love cars. Looking forward to being part of the community.

Hmmm...seems like a family affair. ;) Welcome aboard. Hope you are a Porsche fan and stick around on Carpokes!

ejpoulsen was a loyal and vocal Track Nanny supporter from day 1, so if he wants a hat, I'd be more than happy to send him one! Just have him contact me via email or PM and I'll get it in the mail!
