What did you do with your 718 this week?

Yes...older Porsche's. The SC maybe 40 or so years ago?

The bibs back then were probably partially due to concern for and protection from inattentive, careless gas station attendants back when that was a thing. (My "Cars from long ago..." comment would also seem to fit the now extinct filling station attendants.)

I think they kept the bibs until the end of the air-cooled cars, i.e. 993.

Stormy, a fuel bib is a little flap that goes around your fuel tank filler neck, and then hangs down on the side of the car to keep you from possibly scratching or denting the side of the Porsche with the gasoline tank nozzle. Glad to help and now you don't have to look it up.

And I always thought the best way to protect the finish was to use care when inserting the fuel nozzle. How wrong I've been all these years.

A bib likely encourages careless fueling, an action that might also soak the bib (depending on what material is used), which in turn is followed by a cabin full of gasoline odors. And then there's the possibility of too much bib material damaging the fuel door latch mechanism or hinges.

I guess they'd be good for the inebriated...

well, ok. I have had to close one eye to be able to get the nozzle into the fill opening.....

Installing the CMS bar yourself is impressive. I wouldn't tackle that out of fear of destroying panels and/or otherwise screwing something up. I know getting them installed is a challenge, so good on you!

I have the Cantrell roll bar and it is great, but I feel the CMS offers a couple of big advantages, one being a bit of a view out the back window (I have virtually none with the angled Cantrell cross bar that goes from the front of one side to the rear of the other side and the raised wing.)

The other huge advantage, at least for those with a 4RS, is the ability to get to the back engine cover off without having to remove the Cantrell bar (or parts of it, anyway.) I think the CMS has stronger tubing too.

I got the CMS one because of the items you mentioned with visibility and engine access.
Also, they sell OEM trim pieces already cut for the roll cage which is great.

Happy I was able to do it myself and it worked out but probably won’t do the install myself on my GT4 RS when that arrives next April. Haven’t even hit the freeze point yet.

You were able to get a PTScolor! BRG or Irish Green perhaps?

I received a 4RS allocation this past April but passed. They pulled PTS the week before I received notice of the allocation, which was highly irritating (bit not the only reason I passed). Still at the top if another allocation materializes, so I'll decide then. (PTS is back on for 4RS at the moment but has been gone from 911's for quite some time. It's a crap shoot with Porsche...........)

So far so good on PTS.
The config was accepted by Porsche but you never know.

Irish green.

Irish Green is going to make for one incredible GT4-RS. It's on my very short list of PTS colors.

Irish Green is the color that Porsche chose for their one millionth 911.

For me, many of Porsche's mid to darker PTS greens and blues are so very fine.

Been busy getting my GT4 ready for the next HPDE on Dec 2nd and 3rd at Roebling Road.

Installed the CMS Roll Bar myself, that was quite the job. Next step is to install the 6 point harness.

Had Autometrics Motorsports put Porsche Motorsport upper strut mounts (from the 991 cup car) and rear toe links and do a track alignment.

They also put GiroDisc brake discs and Pagid RSL29 brake pads on the car.

At this point it didn’t make sense to use the tires from 2021 that I’d given a hard time to on the last track day so it has a new set of Cup 2 tires.

My fastest lap in my 992 base at my first ever HPDE weekend (at Roebling) was a 1:28, second HPDE weekend at Roebling was the first with my ‘21 718 GT4 and I took 7 seconds off that time. Will be interesting to see how these changes make a difference.

Embarrassing posting this after the mighty impressive roll cage job!...

I made some color matching leather accessories for my glovebox/center console. One to hold my excess USB cable and one to hold my vintage tire pressure gauge. I am waiting for the day someone asks if I have a tire pressure gauge I guess ha.

I can only imagine what anything I attempted like that would look like. I'm afraid that it wouldn't be very pretty.
