This tool is exactly what I need to start handling the belt check/change myself. I have owned my 1987 (88 model) 2.5 8V lux for 24 years and, due to all the warnings, the belts are one of the few jobs that I have been reluctant to handle myself because of the concequences of getting it wrong. this tool will give me the added confidence and save considerable costs in coming years!

Thank you so much for creating this! When its cooler here in Texas, it's time to change belts.

Hey @Tdawg !

I've an '87 S, without reading much I printed and used this tool and found things the hard way. So, I'll repeat it again as mentioned it already in this thread - this tool is only for the 8V engine, not 16V. The tool calibration is different compared to what's needed for 16V engine and if you plan to make use of this tool, I strongly recommend you not to go forward.

Very true. Someday I hope to make one for the 16 valve motors.

I recently bought a 944 and was doing the timing belt, when I found out that the Porsche tensioning tool is more than $1000 and aftermarket options still cost around $300 so I’m gonna print this out of some nylon filament that I have left over from another project so this tool will last me a long time.
