Thanks a lot for this. Will use this when changing my timing belt.
I will also try to get a vibrating frequency measurement; then it will be possible for people to set their tension without any tools.

I have a question. I’m not sure it’s been answered, do you check the tension after the engine has been rotated over twice or after you rotate it over twice and then back it up a tooth and a half on the timing gear?

Makes no difference really. Use the thread insert version for the strongest and longest lasting tool. The version without the insert works great, but the drive socket can round out after a while.
