FWIW, the identical dial cover kit is on eBay for $68 with a make offer choice. Just sayin'. I may try this, looks pretty easy.
@Bill in Bama Don't know I never think to check eBay first. Thanks for the tip for others. Hopefully others can a significant amount over the Amazon seller.
For anyone that does intend to do this swap and watches the video I linked above a couple of pro-tips:
1) trim tools and cloths to protect dash are key
2) you DO NOT need to disconnect the speaker plug and remove entire dash trim piece. In fact, it's best not to remove the speaker plug as it's a real PITA and subject to breaking. Simply lay terrycloth towel across the opening on the top of the dash to protect and catch the T-15 screws securing the Chrono housing bracket to the dash trim. You only need to remove the Chrono cable, 2 EA T15 screws, and the Chrono slides out.
3) TAKE YOUR TIME with the two very small clock needles. When replacing these needles the bottom one does not go all the way down. You may need to pry it back up to about 1/2 up the post. This is a very delicate and frustrating part of the project. Take your time, use jewelers lenses if you have them and tweezers. Be very careful of pressure.
4) Align needles to 12 oclock. Ask me how I know (see pics above)...
5) Chrono plug only goes in 1 way. Pay attention to pattern on back of Chrono before re-installing in dash trim piece

Hi All
I know it’s a long shot, but does anyone have an original silver bezel that they are willing to sell?
Many thanks.

Hi Yall. New member here and stumbled on the site trying to eliminate the glare on my 718 GTS Sports Chrono trim bezel on the windshield. Did it just not stay? Anyone have other alternatives to eliminate the glare? Thanks!

We put these way on the back burner after many attempts that just didn't look right. It is possible to remove the existing bezel and paint it, which is probably the best available option currently, but that takes a little nerve. We also did a replica of the factory bezel in plastic, which you can paint and install after removing the chrome bezel. The challenge was mostly about getting these to stay on without adhesives etc., so maybe I'll give up and that and see what can be done with some super thin 3M tape....

I think that would be the best solution as long as the bezel can be removed without leaving tape residue.
