Wishing you great success with the new DME. A true labor of love I'm sure. Do I remember you also saying you eliminated the factory S100 speed and ref sensor chip? If I may ask, did you use one of the modern VR chips or design your own circuit like the early DMEs?
Yes, I am using a modern MAX9926 VR sensor interface chip. However, it requires a separate microcontroller to manage it and also to provide the same features/ logic the DME program expects. Our implementation automatically adapts to changes in VR sensor signal strength. It will read a failing flywheel sensor normally when the factory DME would just stall the engine.
