I installed my polished intercooler yesterday. I've long disliked the texture of the stock piece, but I wasn't ready to buy the RMS unit just for its beauty. Since my CTM6 is my daily driver, I bought a used intercooler on eBay and had it polished at an auto chrome and trim shop. Friday morning, I drove to my track garage to install it.
Installation was difficult for me because I have large hands and I struggled with the retaining clip for the air inlet connection to the turbo duct. I learned finally to remove the front engine cover, which exposes the clip and makes it easy. Here's a video of isturbointeg doing it all through the top:
He does mention having trouble with the retaining clip, but rated the job only a 7 difficulty. For me, it was a solid 8.
Throughout the installation, I really enjoyed handling the polished intercooler, so smooth and solid.
To me, this little cosmetic project was worth the minor cuts and bruises; I really hated to touch or look at the rough stock part.

Nice work, looks great! I am still messing around with engine cosmetics as I wait to try out a CF center piece.... Love the look at night when the LED strips light up the engine bay.
Mine so far....

@71eh Been diggin' your mods while reading through the various threads. I was wondering if you had some tips or ideas on adding color to the "+ / - " symbols on PDK paddle shifters. I'm thinking of avoiding paint and using stickers of some sort (vinyl?). Appreciate if you can point me the right direction on the type and maybe I can (poorly) try to cut out a template to fit in the symbols.
I noticed a company that was selling stickers for this type of stuff but they've been shut down by Porsche it seems.

Hey thanks for the kind words! I will have some more cool mods coming up shortly You can keep track here: viewtopic.php?p=32317#p32317
Good question! You have some options....
1) I put some larger carbon paddles on (not replacement), because the tiny ones on the 718 were never my favorite. If you go this route (a good temporary solution in my case), you can easily paint the +/-.

2) You can either paint or put vinyl +/- on the paddles now, but that would involve taking the wheel off, which is a bit of a pain. If you can find a vinyl shop near to you, I would take it there to see if they can cut some for a nice fit.
Paint would be easy, as you just put some acrylic paint in a little syringe and squirt it in there... But, the wheel would have to come off. It's a pain, trust me ha. Possible though.
3) Get new paddles... This is what I will be doing. I love the Magnetic "click" like on the Gt3RS, which you can now get aftermarket for the 718. They are expensive, but a good solution for paddle lovers like me.

Hmm, you inspired me to get going on this mod!

I do plan on putting on the JQ Madtrace paddles at some point, that satisfying magnetic click will be addicting!
Some shops selling them have it pre-painted yellow but I was thinking going unpainted and go the sticker route in case I want to change the color later. Not sure if isopropyl alcohol (when taking off the paint) would affect the finish of the paddles.
Side note: I don't think 3RS magnetic paddles would fit stock Spyder/GT4 wheels? Either way though, I need to adjust them out wider, the partner's hands are tiny can barely reach stock location

Excellent aftermarket paddles - the best I've seen so far.

Dang, I was perfectly happy with my paddles, but then I was also satisfied with quite a few other items and now you guys have me spending funds since, obviously, my Porsche life is rather incomplete, ha.
Oh, well , I do have GT3 A arms, shims, longer stud conversion kit from Rennline to install, so I guess I can get by during part of the upcoming Winter doldrums!
PS - JQ Madtrace paddles are currently 20% off !

Track season for the GT4 ended after yesterday's fun day at NCM Motorsports Park. In a couple of weeks will take the car in for regular annual service plus additional EOY track service, a new set of AP Racing J-Hook rotors, Ferodo DS3.12 pads, winter wheel/tire swap, etc.
As for a new upgrade, a relatively unexciting one is to have clear "Air" UV window tint installed in the GT4. It works much better than I expected in two other cars that I've had it added to (the red Turbo S and the black 718 GTS). Both those colors are sun heat magnets and, even though they are never stored in the sun, they are driven and sometimes parked outside for short periods, so I figure any UV protection will be highly beneficial in protecting interiors in addition to reducing inside heat.
After the above, she'll get thoroughly cleaned of track detritus, fully detailed, re-PPF'd where/if necessary, a Gtechniq "boost", etc. The Cayman will then be ready for some off-season driving.

Yep! Holiday sales are already damaging my wallet
While browsing I also noticed Raceseng seems to be going out of business and also have 40% off sitewide
(code:BF40 stacks with markdowns) which have these paddle extenders for those that just want paddles extended and don't want to do any removal.
Not a lot stuff left but I picked up some tow hooks. Too bad they don't have any M14x1.5MM wheel hanger rod kits.
