It has been a while since I did an update.
Infrastructure is all done, stuff that has to live in the garage is mostly loaded.
Just some tweaking and organizing to do.

Small anecdote, but TCM has been doing a Bruce Brown retrospective including the earliest films and footage. Tonight they showed 'The Endless Summer' (1966) and 'The Endless Summer II' from 1994. 'The Endless Summer Revisited' is just now starting.

I remembered GT3Twenty10's 'Endless Summer' poster and others' comments from July '23 that were in this thread. Kind of cool.

I saw Endless Summer II in Raleigh with my son. We were the only two in the theater. I guess surfing was not a big draw in Raleigh.

Yes. The 'real surfing' was the first any in the non-surfing public mainstream movie-going crowd had ever seen regarding surfing at that time, although Bruce's earlier films done on 8mm and 16mm on shoestring budgets had been the staple for surfers in the decade before the first 'Endless'. They'd set up a projector in some empty hall and fill the room with surfer types.

A quote from Bruce in the 2000 "Endless Revisited" film said his annual cycle in those early days of the 50s and 60s consisted of 3-months traveling and filming, then 3-months of editing, followed by 6-months of screenings to make enough money to repeat the cycle. He and his mates were a creative and fun-loving bunch, that's for sure.

TCM followed the three 'Endless' movies last night (early this morning, actually) with his motorcycle film made w/Steve McQueen, "On Any Sunday". Good to see TCM screening his films.
