One of the tracks that is hosting the next track day has a sound restriction so I wanted to practice forcing the valves closed. I found if you simply remove the spring clip and remove the ball socket you can tuck the lever behind the actuator arm and put to to always quiet mode quick, simple and free

Will try this for a few days and also play with the Sound Symposer on and off to see if I can notice that at all.

Can't find it now, but I read something several months ago that stated tracking with the exhaust valves closed could possibly damage the engine. Allegedly, it had something to do with excess back pressure. Regardless, I have no actual proof, no direct knowledge, and I'm not an engineer, but thought I should mention what I saw.

Perhaps someone here with first hand info can opine and set the record straight.

Seems like I've heard something similar, but mine is a vague recollection with zero attribution or confirmation.

Regarding running with the valves forced closed causing engine damage, overheating the catalytic converters I have read similar things on the forums. Part of me was skeptical because every other vehicle on the road has an exhaust manifold, a catalytic converter and then a muffler. I have not seen any proof of a problem, I can't tell of it is an old wives tale or internet folklore. If someone has proof please share. I asked Scott from Softronics tuning and he said it is a false fear and there is no danger of me running with the flaps closed. The only way to overheat the cats is to run the engine way too rich so that the excess fuel is burning in the catalytic converter.

On the other hand, I did not notice much difference from the sound symposer, not enough for me to attempt to defeat it. I did notice that the exhaust valves do add a lot to the experience and personality of the car, I am going to go put the valves back shortly.

This evening I installed Carplay and - of utmost interest to me - Android Auto, with an easy download to an SD Card. Being old, stupid, and curious, I broke a few of the safety guidelines without consequence. It was so easy once I found the right 'All-In-One' solution. Until then, I was confused and frustrated.

What I followed:
https://github.com/harman-f/MHI2_US_POG ... AIO#readme

I didn't use a battery charger backup; I ran the engine. And early in the process I removed and reinserted the SD Card. The PCM didn't care; it picked up where it left off and the install went smoothly, taking about 30 minutes for my 2017. Thanks to hackers who enjoy making stuff dance, we have a super-easy 'All-In-One' solution.

My solution to the passenger seatbelt knocking problem... I notice some people just buckle it in, or stuff it in the pillar to stop it from knocking. Trying out a different solution. The seatbelt clips into it. I added the mini Porsche crest :)
