Lamborghini Miura....I posed for my 'casual' High School Senior picture reading a Road and Track that had a yellow Miura on the cover..I did get to drive one once as a friend who also worked at Ford got one. Never got a Miura but I did get an Islero, also yellow.
Had a ride in an E-Type when I was 9 and did get one (67 OTS) at one point, but sold it for the downstroke on my first house in Long Beach. Should have sold the Lamborghini and kept the E-Type.
What was your childhood dream car?
Dream car in my 20s was an S2000. Ended up buying a 325i to be more practical but rarely used the rear seats. Had a lot of fun with it on the track though.
Looked at used S2000s around 2010 after production stopped but wife ended up getting a used automatic Z4 instead. Started looking at S2000s again over the past few years but had a hard time finding the right car.
Wife wasn’t thrilled about me getting such an old car, and suggested that I get a Porsche instead. The S2000 just wasn’t meant to be but I lucked out and am thrilled to own a BGTS instead.

Well in my 20's I was in the market for my first sports car. Tested a 71 Porsche 911 against the new Datsun 240Z. The Z blew me away especially given the price then. After that my dream car was closer to something from Ferrari similar to the Pantera styling. It happened again in 1993 when I spotted a used 1991 Acura NSX. One test drive and I was hooked. Great styling, quality build, performance that made all the other high end exotics go back to the drawing board, and it "fit" me. I auto crossed it for 20 years and later on for 10 years as a track instructor in northern California area. Minor upgrades and easy to work on compared to most cars out there. Never any problems with the motor or tranny and for everything it did it never burned any oil. Honda builds a great engine. Thirty years later I sold it to someone who is the age I was when I bought it and it's also his dream car. Its got a good home. I do say that my Panamera Sports Turismo is a great utilitarian car which also meets my "NEED FOR SPEED," while transporting all my COSTCO stuff. It's going to take one hell of a car to make me want to change at this point.

Speaking of S2000's, Carpokes member "rowca" has (or had) a nice 2007 that was going to be sold prior to the arrival of his new Cayman GTS. He posted pics of the S2000 here which you might like glancing at. It's a nice, well-kept S2000.

It appears that you've had good fortune however by ending up with the Boxster GTS instead. It would be great to post more about your car with some photos either in the New Member Welcome or somewhere in the 718 Boxsters and Caymans sub-forum
Glad you found Carpokes and thank you for joining!

That was YEARS ago, so memory can be less than 100% accurate.
It was heavy and not the most responsive car to drive. It was clear that it was a limited production type vehicle based on effectiveness of some features. In fairness to the car I had, it likely needed attention to carb tuning, suspension set up, updated exhaust and tires. It was designed to cruise all day at higher speeds, at least higher than typical US speed limits. I noticed everything started to work much better and it was much happier once I hit 75-80. Grand Touring was its purpose and forte as it was the car Lamborghini owners bought for touring rather than Sunday morning empty road sprints. It needed space to exercise its merits, so that likely set the tuning parameters. My 951 is more responsive in all aspects. I wish I could have experienced the Islero when it was new as it might have yielded a different impression. I'm not the least bit sorry to have owned it as it taught me about cars of that nature, and I was too early in my dynamics career to fully appreciate what I had or how to make improvements.
I later saw the car for sale in an add from Fantasy Junction and saw that someone had made a lot of updates. I knew it was the one I'd had as it had a unique vent in the front fender and my name came up in the history of the car.
