Another thought: I If you have a REAL hardware store nearby, check with them. They might have what you need. Or a local hydraulic shop that rebuilds cylinders. They likely will have the fluid, or know where to get it.

I'll be darned, look what came in the mail today! Peterbilt said they had to back-order this, but it looks like they had it dropped shipped from a supplier. Yippee. Now I wonder how much to put in....

Has anyone here mounted a mirror on or near their lift to help get the car centered on the runners? I'm trying to come up with a camera or mirror or something, and looking for inspiration.....

Since I have a MaxJax I just put a parking curb down on my garage floor to stop me at the proper spot, I can usually hit it right first try every time.

Just thought of another possibility, I hung a little "stop" sign from the garage ceiling to show my wife where to stop when pulling in, just park where it barely touches the windshield and its right in front of your nose. Low tech but effective, at least it would be if she paid it any mind, but that's another story....

I have not done any of the above, as I've found after about 5 or 6 times on and off the lift, I have a good feel for it. Not always perfect, but close enough for sure.

I like the mirror idea though... on my trailer, the relective black wind dam/storage area provide an image I can help align myself up with which is nice.

That laser thingie looks like something you were aiming at Tom, pretty cheap considering.

I have rubber lifting blocks I strategically place at the front of the runners to know how far forward to pull the cars. My issues is centering it side to side. I have my runners set to the widest position (to maximize work access underneath) and on thinner cars like my 944, I need to get it just right or else one set of tires will hang over the inner edge of one of the runners. I was originally thinking of setting up a camera so I can line the car up as I approach the lift, but it dawned on me that some kind of mirror might do the trick with a lot less complication.

I bought one of those, but wasn't a fan and took it down. The little dot was hard to see, but it also just points wherever it points. So, I guess if you always parked the same car on the lift, you'd know where the dot should point on that car when it is positioned correctly, but I have 4 cars of my own I sometimes put on the lift, along with friends cars on occasion. If I'm taking the same car on an off a lot, I tend to get a feel for it. But if I go from my truck to the 450SL to the 992, my feel tends to lose its calibration....
