That's especially true if the current F1 teams are successful in blocking Andretti's bid for his new team entry into F1.fjord384 wrote: Wed Jan 10, 2024 4:53 pm I actually would like Haas to sell to Andretti. This way, Andretti can start investing more into the team to be actually competitive.

F1 and teams would still find a way of keeping the Americans out.

Komatsu knows the team he's been there since the beginning . If he is a good engineer and if he had input into the 2024 chassis he has a chance at success . Success this year could be move up one spot , score points and maybe a podium . So the bar isn't that high .
If this year's car is a dog he can say it was designed and built under Gunthers watch . If it's a dog and the team upgrades their way to better performance it's a win for Komatsu . I think the real pressure on him will be 2025 . In my opinion where Gunther shined was with the sponsors . His natural personality is enjoyable at least to many . And he had connections in the paddock . He will show up somewhere I am sure .
I really hope Andretti/GM are granted a spot on the grid . I have no grand illusions that they will be successful out of the gate . They have had painful years in Indycar. But I think they would be much better at promoting that they are an American team than Haas has . Time will tell .

Expectations will low for 2024, no doubt. The bar is definitely at the absolute bottom considering that Haas/Steiner/et al do not have one single podium finish in eight (8) full years of F1 racing.996C438 wrote: Thu Jan 11, 2024 5:36 am Komatsu knows the team he's been there since the beginning . Also telling is this: Hulkenberg is winless in 203 career starts, while Magnussen is winless in 163 F1 races...and are near the top of the all-time F1 record for most race starts without a victory.

Not sure Andretti buying out Haas , for instance , would make waves, as it is just trading one US Team for another. With all the races now being in the US, I have to believe the powers that be realize another US Team has a big possibility of raising even more interest and revenues.

Yes - the ideal scenario is to add Andretti to current list of teams. There is a ton of buzz in the U.S. for F1 - the popularity has exploded the past few years. Maybe it wanes a bit here and there as trends sometimes do, but interest in F1 is definitely here to stay as a big-time (hugely big-time) race series. Another American team is called for no matter what resistance existing teams put up. Does it happen?WillyDaP wrote: Sat Jan 13, 2024 3:25 pm Not sure Andretti buying out Haas , for instance , would make waves, as it is just trading one US Team for another. Here's a crazy topic to discuss . Let's say Andretti gets a spot on the grid . Do they approach Gunther Steiner to be team principle ? He knows how to start a team from scratch . He has F1 connections . He is VERY popular with the fans . Sponsors would be hopping on the team bus .
Or does Andretti go after someone like Sznafauer ? If Andretti get a team they will probably use Alpine/Renault engines . Szanfauer knows that engine and I am sure has connections there from being team principle . Can you tell I am bored and need racing season to start

I have vastly insufficient knowledge to make any kind of guess, so I'll just answer your questions with an across the board 'yes', a safe and meaningless non-answer that sounds good to me!
