Tom: it must have been one of the first sets that I had to sand a bit to fit so if Scott says they fit perfectly then don't bother sending me ones that are smaller, and you can proceed with the metal ones.

Hey Scott, sorry your cover warped. :( I actually think I've solved that issue with the resin prints, but aluminum is better still, so I'm working with Bob to create a black anodized version after he recently told me about the warping. Please stick with us here to get those. I like Rennline and understand the urge to get their help, but I make this stuff for my fellow Porsche owners, not as free leg-work for other businesses, so as gently and friendly as I know how to say it, would appreciate your understanding on that going forward.

p.s., some of the free stuff I make for people is subject to non-commercial licensing restrictions, so as a general rule, when I give away free parts, my intent is that they be used for personal, non-commercial use unless you check with me first....

Got it. I was trying to be proactive to come up with a better solution than plastic, since mine warped, and were basically unusable. I had never read prior to just recently that anyone was working on a metal version, which is clearly the best solution. :-)

Thanks and no worries. I only heard about the warping a week or so ago, and so started working on an aluminum version right away.

I was able to find a temporary fix for the warping but heating them with a hairdryer and gently bending them to where they are flat again, and I used a heavy ingot over the top when they were still hot to ensure they stayed that way. I suspect that the same thing will happen again, and maybe sooner, but at least they will work until we have a better option.

Thanks Bob! And the anodized aluminum versions are on the way! Most places cut a flat piece of anodized aluminum, which leaves the edges raw silver, so trying to work out the most efficient way to deal with that.

Thanks Tom, you are the man! I am surprised they could not anodize the entire piece, edges and all, but I am sure we can figure something out. Personally, I am ok with painting the edges with a little flat black or satin paint, like Testors as can be found at most hobby or craft stores. Or as I did my current pair, I covered them with some Satin Black vinyl, which is pretty close to the shade of the surrounding area.

For my own stuff, I typically run Sharpie around the edge and call it a day, but that only last for a while, and I'd prefer to offer a lifetime part. :) Black anodized aluminum sheets are fairly cheap, so it's super easy and cheap for a waterjet shop to cut out the parts that way. No doubt we could cut raw aluminum and have them anodized after they are cut, but my concern is that will be cost-prohibitive. I'm working on it from a few angles though, so bear with me. :)
