Liangpong wrote: Thu Apr 06, 2023 4:20 pm Dream car in my 20s was an S2000. Ended up buying a 325i to be more practical but rarely used the rear seats. Had a lot of fun with it on the track though.

Looked at used S2000s around 2010 after production stopped but wife ended up getting a used automatic Z4 instead. Started looking at S2000s again over the past few years but had a hard time finding the right car.

Wife wasn’t thrilled about me getting such an old car, and suggested that I get a Porsche instead. The S2000 just wasn’t meant to be but I lucked out and am thrilled to own a BGTS instead.
Welcome to Carpokes!

Speaking of S2000's, Carpokes member "rowca" has (or had) a nice 2007 that was going to be sold prior to the arrival of his new Cayman GTS. He posted pics of the S2000 here which you might like glancing at. It's a nice, well-kept S2000.

It appears that you've had good fortune however by ending up with the Boxster GTS instead. It would be great to post more about your car with some photos either in the New Member Welcome or somewhere in the 718 Boxsters and Caymans sub-forum

Glad you found Carpokes and thank you for joining!
Thanks, will definitely post photos when I get around to taking some pictures. Haven’t seen the car much during the first month of ownership due to traveling and PPF. 😀 Also, thanks for sharing the post about the S2000. Looks like a great find for the next owner.

Since this topic is for all kinds and makes of dream cars from our early childhood years (a very long time ago...) and has attracted quite a vehicle assortment while growing to 7-pages of posts, I'm going to relocate it to "The O.K. Corral" where more might see it.

I'll leave a shadow copy in the "996,997, etc" sub-forum which will remain for a few days, redirecting to "The O.K. Corral".

I wasn't a car person growing up. Actually didn't get into cars until 30 (lived in Manhattan most of my life).

My wife was always a car person and she made the first car purchase decision in 2021 when we moved out of NYC and drove down to Florida. It was a Macan. I have been hooked ever since.

Since 2021, I bought 4 Porsche:
- Macan Base
- 992 Carrera Cab S
- Macan T (regretted trading in the original Macan for the cab that my wife loved)
- 992 GT3 (recent purchase as of two days ago - finally got the allocation).

I would say my dream car after I started getting into cars was the GT3. The track your dream application couldn't be more on point for that.

Congrats on the GT3 allocation!
Thank you! I'm sooooo excited.

I have been waiting for the allocation for years. Went back and forth with GTS a lot.

I ended up cancelling my GTS order due to bucket seat stop sale (my build was rejected twice and was forced by Porsche to go without them).

In the end everything worked out as my dealer got a surprise allocation for MY23 (saves me the 15k increase in MSRP). Really lucky!

I can tell that you're excited as one would expect! It's nice when things work out better than originally planned.
